Those aren't really issues in MacOS. Nothing gets into the Start up unless you tell it, the old windows thing of malware hijacking the OS just doesn't happen. In terms of ports etc most software has options to specify a port (bittorrent etc). That and the risk of viruses is minimised as there are very few written for MacOs.

When people leave Myspace, it deletes all traces of them (understandably), so the Bulletin I posted to say I was gonna delete my account has been deleted too (along with the few comments I'd posted, etc). As I don't want any of the people who were my 'Friends' to feel affronted that I'm no longer on their Friends-list ('cos obviously the majority of them don't read these boards), could a few of you (Rashamon, Rumiko and Reuben would probably cover everyone between them) post a Bulletin on my behalf, including in it the dizzytiger.faithweb.com url, please? I won't see it, so you can say what you want, but just point-out that the label can still be contacted via the Dizzy Tiger site. Thanks in advance to anyone who does this for me. x

Did you all see that brief bit in the Independent On Sunday, where Billy Bragg points out that Myspace have a very strong grip on their freedom to exploit your music worldwide? As I'd surmised earlier. Can't trust that Murdoch!

Yeah Bragg still maintains a profile doesn't he? There has been a lot of this stuff floating around myspace recently but to be honest without a fairly broad right to distribute within the "myspace network" I don't see how any of it could work.

Apparently he took his music offline, and was encouraging others (particularly unsigned acts) to do the same: though Myspace subsequently promised they'd re-word the small-print ("Copyright free worldwide distribution" may have been the contentious phrase, but I'm sure you coud all look it up either on your Myspace pages or in the online version of The Independent On Sunday, if you were concerned).

Was it Billy's idea to get that Greatest Hits out, then? Very thoughtful of him.

If people are gonna defend Myspace at the expense of Billy Bragg, I'd suggest they'd got their priorities wrong! Bragg wasn't talking about not making money from music: precisely the opposite, he was pointing out that many artists (particularly unsigned ones) have entered into a promotional situation wherein Myspace are generating all the revenue (through advertising, at least) than any of the artists, who aren't that likely to see a penny from Myspace.

Everybodys picking on myspace these days. These poor rich australian entrepeneurs barely have a chance to defend themselves....

Cooking Vinyl's re-release of all Bragg's albums in expanded-cd editions is unarguably a sell-out, if you stick to the original 'Pay no more than 99p' Go!Discs perspective (though, of course, cds are nowadays the cheaper, public-friendly, format): though, as it gives us all the chance to hear such unreleased gems as the (currently on an Uncut freebie cd) Johnny Marr -assisted take on A Lover Sings (a home-demo, in which Marr keeps breaking into the chimes from This Charming Man), I'm not really complaining.
Me, Carrie, Petra, Verlaine: I think we've all got nice Billy Bragg stories to tell, when we feel like it. Do any of us have nice Rupert Murdoch stories? Do we bollocks!
Bragg never signed with a major, sold his songs to corporations, or went-off politics. He's alright with me!

I met Rupert Murdoch once and he said I was far too short, unimpressive and not worth the money. I said 'What? Like Billy Bragg?'. Then we both laughed like loons and I sucked his stumpy little cock again.
