Michael's decided he can't get an adequate Frontier Telegraph side done for this after all. (sigh) So! anyone else up for it, preferably in the electronic style? Lee- wanna ask around the Spirit of Gravity lot? Maybe one of those Shitmat DJ-mix tapes Henry had apparently wanted to do himself one day... This is a bit of a pisser, 'cos I've been hanging on to this (fantastic) Minimal Impact piece since May! Anyone?

What - is there some kind of dearth of experimental music foraying in Hastings? Shitmat will be far too busy unfortunately. I've been on at him for well over a year for that 'mates to some pilgrim' remix. I could try Malevich for some live recording or summit. Would be nice if somebody in Hastings could do something suitable though.

Malevich would be good, but yeah, shame not to get someone outside of the collective doing it.
When I was telling Del last week about what was coming out on the label soon, he was asking whether I wanted to extend the Minimal Impact/Frontier Telegraph release to an electronic ep (not realising that there would have been 90 mins of music on it anyway already), with a build-up of material he and some of the Lo-Fi's had been amassing. I may see him tomorrow, so am going to suggest if they can get 45mins together, though dunno how long ths would take.
Michael does want to do a single or something as Frontier Telegraph though, so that may appear as well eventually.
Apologies all round.

I've asked the collective about contributing and advised them to respond via the message board - so hopefully something will crop up.

Well I take it back - Henry has said he'll do it!
I've sent him a mail and copied you in Stu but until you get your yahoo up and running I doubt you'll see much! ;D

Sorry guys, I've got far too much on at the moment to be doing 45 min electronic things (I'm half way finished on a shorter track for the next CD however).

Nice work Lee, that should work out well, hopefully! Henry can be reassured the MI side covers both the quiet and noisy extremes, so he'll probably enjoy it...
No worries about not being able to do a side, Michael. Look forward to getting a compilation track off you though (looking forward to getting on with the next compilation anyway!)
'Til Yahoo is up and running, there's no point people emailing me through it, as anything sent since at least last Saturday would probably have to be sent again anyway. It's a bother.

Henry has emailed, so I think I can now confirm that the tape will feature:
Side A: Minimal Impact - The Day I Met The Cosmonauts (45mins) Side B: Shitmat - Fuckin' Rota (30mins)
I'll post a new thread once it's all been received and ready. Yay!

Better buy a tape pressing plant.....
Mr Shitters (I'm sure he'll love that monniker) is going to be selling stuff on a Wrong music internet shop sometime in the near future and he reckons he'll shift about 500 units of each release...!
;D

He's welcome to "shift 500 units" so long as he doen't mind shifting them very, very slowly! But I will look inside the Mr Money moneybox (only from Tomy) and see what funds are available for pressing 500 tapes...

Would some kind of Shambolica style fund raiser be an idea worth pursuing? A gig at The Smuggs could make about £120.00 it might take the sting out of the manufacturing side of things for Stu if 3 or 4 bands were to do a show together and bung DTMC what we get paid. Good promotional tool as well, y'know a kind of Dizzy Tiger presents type of thing.

I was thinking of seeing if Ewen had any dates free during October (when the series of Observer articles are running) to tie-in with them, but haven't got round to it yet. In an I-Tunes for paupers style, I'm wondering if he's put his copy of Sun In Wintertime on the Smugglers jukebox yet (where you can also hear Broken Down, Whiskey Sound: at £1 for 5 plays it'd only cost you two quid to hear Donkey Kong/Rumiko's cd, and three more for the comp, except you might as well just ask them to put it on the stereo if you're gonna do that). After I'd chatted to Dean about this, Miles texted to say Good Morning Captain are still willing to come over and play there, although Saturday nights are better for them (and probably a few of the others), 'cos of getting back to Brighton/work the next day difficulties. I wasn't thinking of putting any gigs on there to raise funds for the label though, just so that John could point people along to see the bands he's meant to be writing about in the paper. Maybe we should pop in over the weekend and sound Ewen out anyway. Who'd be up for playing, or helping with the sound etc for other bands there?

Well you know I'd always be up for playing. What with your forthcoming Four Tet and Hot Roddy gigs it seems that Hastings might be warming up for a little post rockin' electro doodling. Didn't mean that to sound patronising! Anyway, I've got a CD to sell!!

As a result of doing the tape, Steve has offered for us lot to do split cd on his Shitola label at some point, if anyone's up for it. I'll probably start a new thread for this sometime, if anyone wants to have a go if they think they're avant-garde enough. www.shitola.freeserve.co.uk
