Co-incidentally, Dave flagged this one up on a group email last night; you may have seen it before (I had), but I think it just proves that it was passive-smoking that killed-off the dinosaurs: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqb6C2Hme9w

I think it's basically like a photo-blog, except it's designed for video-clips. The plan was probably to let people upload their digicam/camera-phone footage onto the site, to be shared freely amongst the general public: except that people have been filling it up with all manner of music videos, adverts, tv/film out-takes, etc, in probable violation of most copyright laws... How long YouTube manages to be operable before the lawyers intervene (it's a well-known site) is a becoming a contentious issue, apparently.

you tube are in talks with record labels about providing an archive service(making some money). still don't quite get it even after watching a highly informative(?) report on the 'internet phenomenon' on sky news.

After watching the mildly hilarious Duplo video with Carolyn last night (for the first time in about 10 years - my how my hair has changed!) I suggested she put the various bits onto Youtube. Her Dad has the technology to get the video onto DVD....you have been warned!!!!

Last time I checked on YouTube, the only local music I found was Gunmetal's set from Rocksalts, so I'd be very happy to see any of our stuff up there. It didn't occur to me when Carolyn asked to borrow the video though...oops!

Good work Nick, that plays fine. The (thorough) Tags you've included don't yet show-up on YouTube's search engine, but am sure they will shortly, possibly once a few more of us have viewed the film. According to both Lee and Carolyn (at Acid Brass last night: why didn't you all come? WHY? It was brilliant!) there's a distinct chance of Duplo (and probably other) footage turning up on YouTube soon, so what else would people like to see there? Thinking about it, I'd very much like to get the Cat Food super-8 footage from University up there (3 minutes, no music/dialogue, in colour, that I paid to get transcribed onto VHS a few years back), particularly so I can link it via email to Ade, Clare, Alex etc. Other stuff we could pick from include an hour of Ridding '96 footage (though the majority of that is too dark to see) or even me & Lee doing Songs Of Praise at Hastings Castle WAY back in the day. There's also a bit of Harvey (at school) and his soundtrack to The Tempest (from ITV's Coast To Coast local news show), which at least has Dan's poster in it. And there's not much (apart from YouTube terms & conditions) to stop us unscrupulously uploading bits and pieces of Mark Richards' Snakeskin Jacket 2 dvd, mainly Dean's musical bits from the extras/easter-eggs, I'd have thought.

As bonfire season starts on saturday (so soon??) there may be a slight delay in the You Tube / Duplo extravaganza. I shall see if I can do it next weekend tho... (text removed out of hangover shame ) Oh yes, the acid brass was brilliant. There was a great crowd, and much fun dancin' was had by all.

Only a few hours later, and Nick's film does now appear when the relevant terms are searched for. Pick your Duplo tags with care!

Actually, a lot of the bits we've flagged-up on YouTube (especially the Doctor Who ones) seem to have been lifted from this excellent site: take a look (particularly PancakeDave)! www.tv-ark.org.uk
