Rumour has it that Whitney may be in Jan's Celebrity Big Brother - surely not - but my god - I would be very excited it if was true. Obviously I have no social plans in jan (and if I did I would cancel for that...).

Hell yeah. ;D
If that's true, I think I'll quit work, subscribe to the 24 hour live feed, and have meals on wheels delivered for the duration!

This might be one just for the '80s synth lovers but see what you think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eNBgHMPsakP.S. as I don't know what i'm doing with computers, I wasn't able to make the link go blue (oh, you know what I mean) but i'm sure you people can work it out.

Genius and if I'm not mistaken (and I am) featuring a young Santi Campos on SH-101.
Can Alfie supply any names of kitschy 80's electro-pop Italian acts?

Without Googling it, I'm gonna take a guess at 1987 for that video. Anyone else?

My guess is 1984 going by the haircut of the singer and era of the synths (plus the bassdrum part rips off 'Blue Monday' which was '83).

I would've said '85 or '86 for the stuttering vocal sample, but some of the rhythm programming sounded informed by Chicago House...

That's because they're using a Roland TR 909 which became the drum box that Chicago House was built on (which came out in 1984 btw). The 909 (all analogue sounds except the crash sample) was sold off at next to nothing following the introduction of inexpensive digital boxes at around the same time. That's why the Chicago DJs and cash strapped electropop bands like our friends above used them as well as other bits of kit that failed to make any impact when released (tr 808, tb 303, tr 606 etc). These days most synth spods would kill for such a set up.
Is anyone still awake?
The stuttering vocal sample might place the song later than 1984. I'm gonna go for 1985.

Well... If they're gonna rip the piss out of Chantelle (who is fair-game) it should be when she's the guest on '...Buzzcocks' really. That said, Preston has acted like a nob ever since he left last year's Big Brother house (losing the game, and then ditching your girlfriend for the winner, and then claiming he's just 'satirising celebrity' all along...) so bollocks to him.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLQRv0RjBBMPossibly the bleakest thing I've ever seen (involving Kermit the Frog)... If you can't be bothered to watch the whole thing, skip to around 3 minutes in- I choked on my sandwich!

Rob's gone to Whitstable for the day, so I've had the chance to catch up on some of these YouTube clips today... I couldn't stick with them all the way through, and am now confused as to which ones featured musical cats and dogs, and which ones were of Sugababes vs Girls Aloud. Or are they the same thing? Might go back and play through the Kraftwerk & Radiophonic Workshop clips later though. Or eventually. Ta!
