Edited cache from the Google search-engine (nb: so much for individuals' Myspace urls being private: just search "Myspace" and a person's name/email address etc, and they tend to appear...)

they may appear as members stu, but if they have their profile set to private, it can't be viewed unless you're already a friend. in addition, it's possible to set your add friend function to ask people to give your full name or other info before they can add you. that's been really inmportant to me on a couple of occasions - trying to keep friends and family private when i have a very public online persona at several sites (to the extent that people sometimes approach me at shows asking 'are you ellencherry/schroeder/petra?'). i know you're not really net-aware, but posting personal info online IS a risky business. i've been stalked and 'exposed' enough - had anonymous personal journals traced and posted on public sites and sent to my employers; had my pc hacked, personal correspondence stolen and circulated; had my work number, my boss' name, etc, published online; been threatened, harassed, followed and photographed 'candidly'. online stalking happens.

Oh, I just can't have set my Myspace page to Private when it was up there, 'cos I did manage to Google my page after I'd removed it from the site, which I thought was weird.
Friends' comments deleted from above post then.

since the murdoch takeover, in order to set your myspace to private, you either have to make a special request (hardly ever granted) or pretend to be under 16. that's why i'm so egregiously undersold in the age category on there! but you can do the add friend options whetever age you are.
personally, i see no reason not to have your page set to private. people can do a friend request without seeing your profile.

I'm gonna investigate this Myspace business further, but this time independently of the label. I've had a plan!
