Here it is:
The final results are as follows:
Conservative 26
Labour 13
Green 12
Liberal Democrat 2
Independent 1
The left vote is split clean down the middle, so people won't even know how to vote tactically.

If the BNP get a seat or more, then Jack in the Green will be unbearable. That's exactly the kind of celebration that flag-waving far righters most enjoy co-opting.

I love the exuberance of Jack-In-The-Green, but there's always a Little Englander element to it. We'll be on the lookout for a BNP presence there on Monday, I guess (unless the election results really run them to ground again). Funny how all the pro-BNP posters on the Hastings Observer, Talk East etc forums never use their real names isn't it? Cowards.

From the Hastings Observer's coverage - "The British National Party failed to return any councillors in the four seats they stood in but they did get 15 per cent of the vote in Hollington and 14 per cent in Tressell." At a glance, I think their percentage of votes may be lower than last time around, but I don't have any figures to hand.

So - BNP percentage is DOWN in Hollington; but the same as 2006 in Tressell (in '06 this was the combined total of 2 candidates, in '08 it is for one). They did badly in Gensing and Silverhill in '07, and didn't field candidates there this year. Castle and Central St Leonards were their new targets this year, and they performed poorly in both.
I'm off to work now, x

Can't find any coverage of the London Assembly results (the other big risk) although they should be in by now. Goddamn it internet! As you've probably noticed by now, the votes for the London Assembly didn't start being counted (as planned) until from 8:30 this morning, so the proper result is still a few hours away. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7378792.stm

Most of the Hastings results are in on the Observer's site here - A 50/50 Labour/Tory split, I think.
