So it's election time in Hastings on Thursday 4th May. Here in the Old Town I'm probably gonna give my X to our old Old Humphrey Ave landlord Arthur Kitson (Lab), even if we did squabble about the deposit when we moved out! Dunno which Wards the rest of you come under, but just a reminder that there's a bunch of nationalist arseholes standing in the Tressell and Hollington Wards, so even if you dislike the mainstream parties can anyone in those Wards please consider going down the polling booth and either voting Green (candidates standing in both Wards) or spoiling your ballot paper? Anything to make the nationalists FUCK OFF. Thanks. Also, I was emailed a link to an independent site covering the local elections for Hastings southcoaster.blogspot.com which is worth a look if you've the time.

X, X, He said X!
It's a gorgeous day out there (just been up to All Saints Church Hall myself), so no excuses for not voting. Go on, you'll feel better for it.

Went over to the Hastings Observer website (www.hastingstoday.co.uk) to find out the local election results just now, and here's the homepage's headlines:
Tory Glory in Hastings ElectionsThe CONSERVATIVE Party have assumed total control of Hastings council for the first time in 26 years ... More British National Party pledge: "We're here to stay."THE BRITISH National Party vowed to increase their presence in Hastings in future elections, despite ... More
Do we read on, or go back to bed? Shit.

Next Thursday (3rd May) there are Borough Council Elections in two Hastings Wards, and once again the BNP is fielding candidates in both, grrr! One of their candidates is the landlord of an appropriately-named town-centre pub, which we won't be going in again (last time I went there was 1999, before this publican took over), and I note that one of his 8 'assentors' (I don't know what they are, but it sounds like positive-backing!) shares his name with the editor of a boxing-themed free local listings magazine. Let's hope it's not the same guy (I'll ask his niece)... Of course, this could be mere co-incidence, as the candidate himself also shares a name with a certain Jehovah's Witnessing singer-songwriter of our friendship, and they're certainly not the same person! Watch this space.

Good news. We get our results today, and it's not looking good. I'm dreading them.

By the way, bearing in mind the actual multi-cultural content of the most recent issue of the local listings magazine hinted at above, I suspect that, if I indeed identified the 'assentor' correctly, he may well (as popular opinion suggests) have done it for a beer.

I'll cry if the obvious happens. Seriously so much we've worked for over the last few years will go to the dogs.

Well Hastings (in it's two contested seats) swung back from Tory to Labour, so there's still hope.

I'm not gonna interfere with his signature, but I will editorially delete one of Paul's duplicated posts there so that the thread reads properly.

There's no point offending other poly people because you've got a grudge against one. Not all poly people cheat, sleep with other people's partners, or have unsafe sex. And you're also just being rude and surly. It makes you look like an arse, even when you're the wronged party. You're being ridiculous. It's a black art form, not THE black art form - what's your point?

Cllr John has lost her seat!
Carolyn, have a wonderful day, and don;t worry about this evening, I shall do my best to avoid all controversy and dance.

Hopefully, the only controversy this evening will be of the "Did he really have to play Duplo?" variety... At least we can dance/drink away your end's election misery. See you there!

I don't think that I'm being rude. Definitely surly though. Anyway, I concede that you're right and will change the 'offending' signature and reinstate the lyrics of 'Consolation Prize'. And it's hardly news that I'm an arse....
BTW, how do you put the reference things in boxes? You know what I mean....
Re: R'n'B: Stuart's right, it's a pointless argument but I'll continue it via work email if you must. I thought that the point was implicit though.
Lastly, thanks Caroline for the Dr Who stickers. Must send off for the album now...and I promise not to cheat by just sending off for the remaining stickers x

When you're logged in, you'll see a symbol with the word 'Quote' next to it, on the top right of every individual post. I think if you click on it, it puts that entire post between some square brackets, and you can then edit down to quote the bit you want, add your own comments outside the square brackets, and post it! It may take practice, I can't quite work it out.
Gotta head off now anyway.

Tagging in VBcode is super easy. If you want to quote something, you just type: [ quote ] (without the spaces), then copy the text that you want to quote, then type [/ quote ] (again without the spaces). Or, as Stu says, you can use the quote button top right of the post you want to quote.
Thank you for changing your sig. You're probably less stubborn than I am at this point. xo.

Thanks you two. Next question: how to attach pictures (jpegs)?

[ img ] - then insert address of the jpeg you want to use - [/ img ] (again without the spaces)
