I'm feeling kinda curious about what everyone's thoughts on what we all did for the Coastline Records time are. Coastline ran from July 1991 (when us lot in Duplo decided to definitely have a record label, originally called Hamster On A Turntable) until July 2001 (when Paul & I decided to kill the label, now Coastline Records, off on its' 10th anniversary: and Petra organised the Shambolica all-dayer at the Fubar - now Brass Monkey - to commemorate its' passing). Various memory-jogging prompts can be found on the main Dizzy Tiger site: but it's worth reminding that Duplo collectively issued the first release in 1992, then Lee & Paul kept the idea of the label going during the 90's, until (after some encouragement from Petra) we re-juvenated the label as Coastline in the late 90's and, with the help of Marcus, Petra and Rachel, released a slew of tapes and cdrs (alongside a whole bunch of other acitivites, especially the Club Coastline nights at the Fubar) before tying up all the loose ends with gigs and releases in 2001. Any further thoughts on Lee's Scout activities, The Ital Jets, Cat Food (The HAMMS, Cheapskate & Porno), the Ridding Festival, Angel Underground, etc would also be of interest. It's been nearly 5 years since Shambolica too: what do people think about everyone's progress since then? Hey, it's the nostalgia thread!

I heard some of the cassettes, good stuff! Some of the recordings were so "amateur" though that listening to it in the car was a bit painful for the ears, must admit. The fact that there was a band on it called "Some Wankers" was very funny...I think Marcus was in it! (Not trying to be funny, Marcus!"

They were originally Paul & I; then we got Seb in for the Ridding appearance and subsequent album; finally it was me, Seb, Marcus and Michael for the HIV/AIDS Benefit at the Fubar. 'Maim That Tune' may possibly be an under-rated tape in the Coastline catalogue, but it's been quite a long time since I've played it. I remember being really pleased with it at the time!

True, and it was better for it.
My favourite Some Wankers moment was when I met a friend of Emma Cottington's down The Crypt after Ridding (presumably at the Autojoy gig where they billed themselves as "of Ridding fame"), my only brush with celebrity status:
- "Hey! I saw you in that band at Ridding, didn't I?" - "Yeah, cheers, that was me..." - "What were you: The Wankers? Yeah, that was it: Wankers! Fucking wankers! Ha-ha-ha!" (runs off laughing)
Then we found out Dan had taped over all the Ridding footage with the Elvis K'nelvis gig. Fickle fortune.

I've recently been shown a circa-2000/2001 email exchange from a member of the public pretending to be another member of the public, and a representative of Coastline Records... It may yet appear online, for the purpose of comic hindsight, but the photoshopped jpg attachment certainly will not (you know who you are!) That's the benefit of never deleting your emails or changing your accounts, I suppose.
