Just to say Bassline 182, Parkhurst Road, Bexhill, are up for stocking cd's etc on a sale-or-return basis, so I'm going to bring a few bits into them next month as stuff becomes ready. As well as Dizzy Tiger stuff, I've agreed with Oliva to distribute the new Flesh Happening ep over this side of Brighton, so if anyone else wants me to take a handful of stuff in on their behalf, I'm happy to do so. Will be approaching other shops over the next few weeks. Marcus - I've got a few outstanding order for Sun In Wintertime cds to fulfil, but am still waiting to get the Axis Deer track off of tape and onto a computer. Would you be able to do this, if I brought the original tape over sometime? I've been out of phone credit this week, and what with email bother I've put-off contacting Michael Rivers (nee Llewellyn) about getting the rest of his stuff done. Would like to know I can get any tracks off of cassette onto cdr (most of his stuff should be on mini-disc anyway) before he and I start the full Axis Deer project.

Yeah can do, I don't have a tape player that plays back at the correct speed so if you can provide one then that is fine. Alternatively we could take it to the basement and put it to mini disc. Give me a call.

(The Axis Deer discussion now has it's own thread)
The record shop in St Andrew's Market in Hastings (is it still called ASM? I didn't check) is also happy to stock the cds, though they've got an upper limit on the pricing of such items, so this may not suit anyone who needs to charge more than seven or eight pounds for their cds in order to cover costs. Won't be a problem with the Dizzy Tiger ones of course. (I also went down to Big Monkey Records in Claremont, but he's closing the shop and the end of September and just trading online after then, so there's no point getting any stocked there. I did buy that old Che Trading compilation Disco Sucks, though - good record, bad title. So I'm off to listen to Bis then..)

Just been down St Andrews Market (the record shop is actually now called Lockup Rock, of course, not ASM Music) with some Flesh Happening cds, to prep them for this week's paper. Don't rush down there for anything, they've not put any of the cds out yet, as they're waiting for some new racking first. The guy's face when I showed him Oliva's cd, and told him they had "kind of a gay Stooges" thing going on, was a picture, but fair play to him, he's taken some copies on, at £3 each.

I was gonna pop back round Mum&Dad's on Thursday after work, if it can wait til then? Or will bring them both down to Dean & Jim's Revolver thing tonight for you to borrow them (I won't be making any copies of The Power Of Hatred ep before ATP) if either you or Caroline are gonna come down.

No, 'cos it's on a 7" single! I can put it on tape though, if that helps, but in that case I could just put them all on tape... Still, got until Thursday to sort it all out.

Just went round to Bassline 182 to give him some Regular John cds and flyers, but it looks like he's closed down. Bugger. Hope to be able to get back some of the stock I gave him if I pop round again tomorrow afternoon, but we don't have a Bexhill stockist now.

What with Bassline 182 disappearing, and Lock-Up Records in St Andrews Market not being that useful, I've taken back what stock I could from the latter (I think there may still be a Sun In Wintertime and Axis Deer cd on the shelves, or they'd been sold, 'cos I'm one down on each of those) in order to fulfil some orders. I've pretty much now run out of both the aforementioned cds, but have got the opportunity to get another batch made during the next few weeks, so sorry to anyone who's been waiting for copies, and I should be back up to speed shortly. Dunno whether to continue using Lock-Up Records really (partly 'cos they didn't really get the cds out on display, and also 'cos of the danger that they might do exactly what Bassline 182 did, and just close-up without a word), so might have to rethink ways to get the various releases out to the public (those who don't want to contact us direct anyway). Any suggestions, perhaps just of a mor reliable stockist? Be nice to be able to afford to sort out some office or unit space for people to drop in, though I could personally only be in there on Wednesdays, and the money just doesn't exist for that anyway. There is a vague rumour that another record chain may take over once MVC has closed down. There's an outside possibility this could be part of an indie chain (this is all rumour and speculation), but if something useful does come along, I'm sure we could use that. I just really can't be bothered with Virgin though (no offence to Terry, and all the generally lovely staff in the store), unless I could be convinced that the people we're trying to reach actually are regularly going in there to search out interesting new releases (which, of course, Virgin never have). What do people think?

Lee's texted to say he's put three copies of Rashamon's The Power Of Hatred in Edgeworld, £1.50 each.
Hopes about the takeover of the MVC shop was a bit false: it's just MVC with a sticker over the door, of course. We were being optimistic, 'cos Fopp had expanded down to Brighton recently. Maybe we'll get a decent shop one day...

A low-key deal is currently being negotiated that will see a few of the extant Dizzy Tiger releases available mail-order online (ie not just by emailing me) - details to follow.
