The title page of the Dizzy Tiger site over at dizzytiger.faithweb.com is a bit cluttered with all the old news postings there (which is slowing it down when it comes to updating), so I'm gonna file them over here, in 6 month blocks. Probably won't be anything you haven't read then, but feel free to query or correct anything that's been sitting there.

20.12.04 Still a few more noisy days til Xmas: Donkey Kong Jr play an extra gig this Wed (22nd Dec) at Smugglers, Hastings, and it's the Regular John and Mumm-ra Xmas Party at Brass Monkey, Hastings on Thu (23rd Dec). Don't forget Donkey Kong are back at Smugglers New Year's Day. I'll be making a couple of adjustments to the website over Xmas break, so that's probably all 'til 2005 and the release of the Sun In Wintertime comp tape (CDr to follow sometime after!) Merry Xmas, love Stu x 13.12.04 This week; Dean should be back down Revolver, Hastings Tuesday eve (14th Dec) for his fortnightly acoustic session. The next day (Wed 15th) over at the Freebutt, Brighton it's a Spirit Of Gravity evening, with Kutchi, Semephore, nwodlteM and KaOsLoCk (8pm, three pounds); it's worth knowing that the first forty peole through the door get a Spirit Of Gravity Christmas compilation cd with all your electric pals. Finally, on Sunday (19th Dec) it should be the Audiocandy Xmas Party at Brass Monkey, Hastings (Burn Burn Burn, Regular John, Mookie etc). 08.12.04 Always get back from ATP with a new illness, but thanks to everyone who showed an interest in the music on our table there. The Rashamon 7" is now out on Highpoint Lowlife (hpll008), tracks are Windo Loca and (Forgotten) Sherpa Folk Song. It's available for four pounds from www.posteverything.com , and there's an accompanying downloadable EP of remixes of another track, Mates To Some Pilgrim, at www.highpointlowlife.com/downloads.shtml too. Live stuff this week: Colonel Mustard (feat Tim Hoyte whose now got a site at www.mrsyarringtons.com/timhoyte/home.htm ) play De Niro's, George Street, Hastings on Thu (9th Dec). Later in the week (Sun 12th) Regular John and Burn Burn Burn both play Trader Jacks in Hastings town centre (the source for many of these Hastings dates is www.hastingslive.com , for some venues at least. Similarly, a good source for Brighton gigs, such as last Sunday's Good Morning Captain and Small gig at the Freebutt, has been searching under the city name at www.ents24.com/web/ ). 30.11.04 Two nights out in Hastings of note today: Regular John ( www.regularjohn.com )and Mumm-ra both play Harpers, been a while since they had anyone noisy down there. Meanwhile, Dean Adams hosts another of his fortnightly unamplified sessions in Revolver, George Street; I think he might have told me who else was playing with him when I was out Saturday night, but seven hours of drinking has erased the details. Now, over in Pontins, Camber Sands this weekend (Fri-Sun, 3rd-5th Dec) it's the Jake & Dinos Chapman curated, All Tomorrow's Parties-promoted Nightmare Before Christmas, and there's a space for one person to come along with us if you can get just over a hundred quid together this week (email me, stuhuggett@yahoo.co.uk ), although you will be sharing a chalet with the ropiest band on the Dizzy Tiger roster - The Miscreants. We'll be flyering and selling stuff again, probably on the tables outside the Queen Victoria pub on the Sunday lunchtime (or, if wet, inside it); including Donkey Kong Jr's Broken Down Whiskey Sound CD, the most recent Sprit Of Gravity compilation CDr (Vol 4), and some of the most recent Dizzy Tiger cassette (including piles of the bloody Miscreants album). Was hoping to be able to take copies of the new Rashamon 7" Windo Loca on Highpoint Lowlife too; it's now pressed, but we don't think we're going to be able to get our hands on them in time. More news on that single once Thorsten announces it. 24.11.04 Despite the billing in the Hastings Observer, Donkey Kong Jr (nice picture though) don't play Hastings Angling Club this Thursday; but this fund-raiser for victims of domestic violence takes place as otherwise described, with performances by several other local acts (off the top of my head: Mama Josie, Lianne Carroll, Claire Hamill, plus others I've not heard). Meanwhile, Good Morning Captain should be at the Freebutt, Brighton with Aped Bisapien and Jacob's Stories. Also, it's the Glass Eye singer-songwriter festival at Smugglers, Hastinsg at the weekend (Sat 27th/Sun 28th). 22.11.04 Dean Adams should be playing Harpers, Hastings tonight (Mon), but Tim Hoyte's cancelled playing there the day after, we hear. Shame. 14.11.04 Donkey Kong Jr play their first gig in a while down at Smugglers, Hastings this evening: your attendance is obligatory, and sign up to their email list before you go down. Next Friday (19th Nov) Miles says Good Morning Captain play the Lift, Brighton, but I need to check he's not getting his venues mixed up. Also in Brighton, at the Marlborough Theatre, Spirit Of Gravity present Mask, Eaten By Children and the Fluxus Guitar Orchestra (three pounds/two pounds cons. 8.30-11.00pm); the latter will feature some of our guitarist friends subsuming their identity to a score to be conducted according to some Fluxus-derived guidelines (maybe check www.spiritofgravity.com for a clearer explanation eh?) (nb:this gives me a chance to ask if anyone has any archive material relating to the Fluxshoe touring exhibition, involving Coum Transmissions, that visited Hastings in 1973: if so, get in touch 'cos I'd like to see it...) 10.11.04 Good Morning Captain play Brighton Freebutt tonight with Little Trophy and Blood Red Shoes (not Trencher), we're trying to get them over to Hastings soon, really. 02.11.04 Dean Adams, Hayley Savage and Jonathan Martyn all play Revolver, George Street, Hastings tonight. They're always doing unadvertised gigs like this at short notice around Hastings, Eastbourne and Rye, and we usually end up missing them as well. Tomorrow (Wed 3rd), Good Morning Captain play at the Hobgoblin, Brighton with Fuck Off Machete and Wooden Ghost. Contrary to earlier info off the Spirit Of Gravity website, it's unlikely The Flesh Happening will be joining Fuck Off Machete (again; not heard them, by the way) as support to Cotton Casino at the Freebutt the day after (Thu 4th), as Oliva's split the band up. Still, we will be including a Flesh Happening track posthumously on the forthcoming Dizzy Tiger compilation Sun In Wintertime, out eventually. 29.10.04 Tomorrow night (Sat 30th) it's a triple bill at Hastings Crypt (where else would you want to spend Hallowe'en? Except in bed) with some of the area's best bands: Regular John, Burn Burn Burn and Mumm-Ra (three pounds before 10pm, increasing as the night goes on. Hopefully they'll turn their clocks back at 2pm closing-time and we'll get another hour's drinking in). The next day (Sun 31st) Good Morning Captain play Brighton Marlborough Theatre with Chimp. Plenty to do then, get out there. 18.10.04 Rashamon play a Wrong Music night at the Volks Tavern under the arches on Brighton seafront on Tuesday 19th (tomorrow), with Shitmat and Hot Roddy. Admission is apparently free, though a donation at the door of a few quid is expected; you do get a free CD on entry too. Lee says these events are way noisier than the stuff he's played before, and as Wrong Music had Russell Haswell at the Brighton Engine Room the other week (Thu 7th), he's gotta be right. At the end of the week (Sun 24th), Bronco Bullfrog play between 4pm and 7pm at French's, Robertson Street, Hastings ( www.angelfire.com/pop2/bronco ); a fine way to finish yourself off. 13.10.04 Burn Burn Burn play their own Audiocandy night at Brass Monkey tomorrow (Thu 14th), always a good'un. 06.10.04 Donkey Kong Jr should be announcing their new name soon (contrary to previous info, it won't be Virgil Kane, as a US band has turned up with that title). The reason for the change is that Broken Down, Whiskey Sound is being licensed for a Continental CD pressing by Spain's Rock Indiana label (already home to the fine Hastings beat group Bronco Bullfrog, who passed the album on), which would inevitably result in heavy litigation from the Nintendo company should the band or label attempt to promote it under their old name. Rock Indiana should also be arranging Spanish dates for the group around the date of release, more details to follow once it's all sorted. Incidentally, I know no-one checks this site every single day, but I bought that Rough Trade Shops Indiepop compilation today, so if you're not going out to see Puppetry Of The Penis tonight, you're welcome to come round and listen to it this evening! 21.09.04 This Thursday (23rd Sep) Oliva Spleen's band The Flesh Happening play Brass Monkey ( www.thefleshhappening.com ). Now, it's Dean's birthday next week, and he's celebrating with Donkey Kong Jr gig at Smugglers on Monday (27th Sep), probably end up a bit of a free for all. Anyone capable of making it over to the Brighton Freebutt the next day (Tue 28th) should catch the next of a series of Spirit Of Gravity collaborations; our Rashamon play with Malevich; Minimal Impact join up with Faoi; and there's an act called Mully too. You just know it's gonna be sloppy, but that's the theme of the week. Bargain. 09.09.04 A quiet moment, before a couple of out-of-town gigs. Next Wednesday (15th Sep) it's a Highpoint Lowlife evening at The Foundry, 86 Great Eastern Street, London EC2 with Recon, Fisk Industries and Rashamon (7.30-11.00pm, and hey it's free). Sublime electronics aside, The Foundry itself is an endlessly intriguing place to explore (a former bank, vaults and all, converted into a bar and art space, part owned by Bill Drummond, hence bits of KLF/K Foundation memorabilia lurking in the corners, which is great, obviously). If you're coming, please spend plenty of money on Highpoint Lowlife CDs so Thorsten can fund the Rashamon single and Marcia Blaine School For Girls compilation! The following Saturday (18th Sep), there's a Mrs Yarringtons sponsored gig at the Memorial Hall in Battle, with Donkey Kong Jr, Tim Hoyte and the Flying Marrows ( www.flyingmarrows.co.uk ), which is rather incestuous really in a Pete Frame style. It's six quid by the way. Tim also plays a few days before (Tue 14th Sep) at the open mike night in Harpers as part of the highly promising Word About Town festival (we'll be catching Iain Sinclair, John Hegley, Jon Otway and Attila The Stockbroker around town that week, at least; I think the best link may be at www.dontfeedthepoets.co.uk ). Finally, there's a request for Ital Jets recordings for a forthcoming compilation on the Promo page, take a look for our work-in-progress report. 26.08.04 First, The Crayons are playing Heroes tonight (Thu 26th); short notice, but then the text-alert I got came in the middle of the fuckin' night, so hey! Now then, Donkey Kong have pulled out of appearing at the none-more-hippie Earthspirit festival in Appledore this weekend (being a bunch of breadheads of course), but are still on course for what I can only call Alfiefest at the Ypres Inn, Rye this coming Bank Holiday Monday (30th), wherein Alfie puts on an afternoon of bands he likes (or is basically in), also featuring Mumm-Ra (check their news at groups.msn.com/mummrarule ), various Alfie/Josie All-Star combinations (hopefully) etc. Come down, bring the kids, it should run on the lawns all afternoon. Finally, congratulations to Rashamon and Same Actor for completely fluking a mention in The Wire's review of Placard London (issue 247, Derek Bailey cover). If we didn't know them, we'd swear it was hype.. 14.08.04 This isn't news (maybe it's "olds"), but just to point out that Thorsten Sideb0ard (Highpoint Lowlife) has managed to get www.8bitrecs.com back online; it's work in progress at the mo', but several old Rashamon mp3s are downloadable again, along with dozens of other electronic artists, with loads more expected to follow from now. Less exciting to probably everyone but me is the discovery that The Internet Archive (who had captured the 8 Bit Recs pages) are also holding the majority of the text of the old Coastline Records website. To view, type www.coastlinerecords.co.uk into the search facility at www.archive.org . 12.08.04 It feels so busy in Hastings this summer. For instance, this evening (Thursday) we could start at the Unscene night at Heroes, Havelock Road, where Militant Minds kick things off after 7:30, then head back home for the Old Town High Street Traders Party (Regular John play at 8:30pm), then via Audiocandy at Fubar, back in Havelock Road (Ben & the Pimps play, with Dean), and on to Spectaular Spectacular at Harpers, Claremont (where Dean plays again). Over the following days, Good Morning Captain play the Freebutt (Fri 13th, with From Monument To Masses), the Marlborough Theatre (Mon16th) and the Hobgoblin (Tue 17th), all in Brighton. There's some confusion about Castro's Brighton gig on Thu19th: it's either on the beach next to the Zap Club, with The Mutts and, oh yes, The Dirtbombs (nb, the Fat Cat website places this gig in the Zap itself), or according to the NME they're supporting Deerhoof (excellent at ATP), with Epideme, at the Freebutt. Whichever is right (maybe both?) either would be well worth catching. 30.07.04 Have submitted this URL to various search engines, so hopefully in a few weeks time we will all be able to pick up on this site through general band searches. Right, should have mentioned this earlier, but Rooth Calvert-Ennals (who did the picture on the cover of the current Donkey Kong Jr CD) has had an exhibition of her artwork showing all this week at Hastings White Rock Theatre. Tomorrow (Sat 31st) is the last day to catch it (and buy stuff..), 10:00am - 9:30 pm. Also, there's a feature on the Donkey Kong CD in this week's Hastings Observer, dated today. Anyway, early warnings here: Next week, on 3rd August, Good Morning Captain play the Open House in Brighton, and on Wed 4th August, Castro play The Verge, Camden (with The Caves and Bunny, whoever..). Later in that month, Castro play somewhere else unspecified yet in that city for some Fierce Panda thing (Thu 19th); more details nearer the time hopefully (nb: Haven't worked out the veracity of this rumour yet, but on the subject of Fierce Panda, one of their former, local acts are apparently not, um, eager that the public discover that one of their fathers is none other than... Sting! If anyone wishes to help confirm or deny this gossip, just email...) 21.07.04 That was fun. Briefly, Burn Burn Burn (formerly Disaster Plan B) play Brass Monkey tomorrow evening (Thur 22nd), then Dean Adams (Donkey Kong Jr) and Hayley Savage play Harpers next Monday (26th July). 14.07.04 Loads happening this weekend: Rashamon plays a set in collaboration with Same Actor at the Placard London Headphone Festival on Sat (17th July) at State 51 (top of Brick Lane), visit state51.org/placard/artists for details of the many other performances that day. Meanwhile, down at Smugglers in Hastings, it's Glass Eye singer/songwriter showcase across Sat and Sun, followed by a Donkey Kong Jr gig proper on the Monday (19th July); most of the band usually appear at Glass Eye at some point for a short set. Also on Sun (18th July) at Cocorde 2 in Brighton, Good Morning Captain play with 9 other acts at an event called Sadcore. Can't tell you much more as I'm not familiar with any of the other acts, but it's a fiver, runs from 3pm, and GMC are on about 6:30. Oh, and come out tonight. 07.07.04 Next Sat (10th July) at Brass Monkey, premiere of Mark Richards' Snakeskin Jacket 2 film. Nominally a local skate video, Dean & Leon tell me it's chock-full of pissed-up misbehaviour, including the legendary party trashing of Horse's stable. Essential viewing I reckon. There's a DVD-R available, email Mark snakeskinjacket@btinternet.com for more info. Then on Sunday (11th July), Rashamon and Same Actor play The Candy Bar, 33 St James' Street, Kemp Town, Brighton, 7.30pm, maybe three pounds? For information on Same Actor see www.hotroddy.com 30.06.04 LauraLaura's Squaresville night came to an end back on 16th June, but has now been reborn as Make Out! Running first Friday of every month, starting this week 2nd July, upstairs in The Penthouse, The Freebutt, Brighton. Be good. 27.06.04 Um, I'm supposed to be DJing, with Tim Prochak, at Harpers tomorrow (Monday) as part of the Spectacular Spectacular fund-raising cabaret burlesque thing. Moral support please. 25.06.04 Gone online today. How are you? Oh look, a Dizzy Tiger website! Excuse any pop-up crap (rather than just the pop crap) that will appear on these pages, that's the price we pay for free webspace (oxymoron corner, thank you). The Dizzy Tiger Music Co is a Hastings-based cheapo cassette label, this site is one way of finding out about what we're up to, especially seeing as you never call anymore, you bastard. I'm also intending on archiving all the previous activities of our previous labels (notably Coastline Records, 1991-2001) here, as well as providing links to the bands we've worked with before, most of whom are doing fine now without you babe yeah. Advance apologies for the lack of illustrations, that'll have to wait until a scanner turns up in the lost property cupboard. Anyway.

27.06.05 Lots to be getting on with this week: It started Sat (25th Jun) with Ch3vy DJing at Brass Monkey, Hastings. Their plane touches down safely that afternoon, and so Dean (Rumiko Jr) and Jim should be back playing Smugglers, Hastings tonight (Mon 27th), with some guy called Tim Williams, over from the US. Dean then also plays Revolver, Hastings then next day (Tue 28th), we think. Between 28th Jun (next Tue) and 4th Jul (a week Monday), a Totally Bored tour takes in dates in Brighton, London, Derby, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow; a combination of Monster Bobby (Totally Bored head honcho, also The Pipettes), Hot Roddy, Bela Emerson (cellist) and Stuart Flynn (Britch) take part (see www.hotroddy.com ). Meanwhile, on Thu (30th Jun), Regular John play Cafe Blue, Eastbourne; whilst it's the opening night of the Hastings Beer & Music Festival ( www.hbmf.co.uk )in Alexandra Park: Keane ( www.keanemusic.com ), the Che Brewer Band and Turquoise Orange ( www.turquoiseorange.com ) play. The event is, of course, long sold out, though I still have a spare ticket (twenty-five pounds, if you're interested); otherwise it gets mentioned here for two reasons. One is just that our Marcus did a stint in Turqoise Orange prior to joining Rumiko Jr (they get a credit on the debut Donkey Kong Jr ep, in fact), as to whether they'll be worth watching, who knows? After all, the townsfolk are there to see Keane's first major hometown gig since hitting it big; allowing me once again to mention about the time we saw the four-piece line-up of Keane down Hastings Crypt way back on 14th Oct 2000 (Hastings Day, oddly enough), supporting the marvellous Spearmint, playing a Christmas set! It's worth mentioning this 'cos Spearmint are bloody great (obviously overshadowing Keane), and that doesn't get said often enough. Keane, of course, are playing the big Live8 thing in Hyde Park, which brings us neatly to a coinciding Make Poverty History fundraising day at both Brass Monkey and The Crypt next Sunday (3rd Jul; probably the same day as Live8, but I wouldn't know really). Just about every local band and musician is playing during the afternoon and evening (including our friends Dean and Jim, Rufus Stone, The Crayons, Regular John, etc); I'd've though the details would be up at www.hastingslive.com soon, so keep an eye out, and we'll see you there, hopefully. 21.06.05 So, Rumiko Jr are off to the colder climes of Spain this week for their debut tour. The dates are: Tue 21st, Asturias, Villaviciosa, with Feedbacks; Wed 22nd, El Sol, Madrid, with Bombones; Thu 23rd, Carmen 13, Burgos; and a final date on Fri 24th at a Rock Indiana festival, Capitol, Santiago de Compostela, with Nominees, Santi Campos and Pablo Sbaraglia. Having just spent the weekend getting burnt in the Pestalozzi Village, we've probably had our equivalent holiday, so good luck to them (sigh..) 16.06.05 A few more gigs to mention: Rufus Stone is at Harpers, Hastings tomorrow (Fri 17th), whilst Burn Burn Burn are up in London the same day, at Dirty Bingo, the Troubadour Club, 263/267 Old Brompton Road SW5 (info from their new website www.burnburnburn.co.uk , which also gives details on how to obtain their debut 7"). Then on Sat (18th Jun) Regular John and many others (I don't have the full line-up) play the Assembly Rooms, Masonic Hall, St Leonards-on-Sea, in support of a cd compilation put together for the SEAfund charity, whose aims are to replace a fishing fleet for a Thai village affected by last year's tsunami. Doors at 6pm, further information should be available from the SEAfund office at the Jenny Lind Hotel, High Street, Hastings. In any case, we'll all be hanging out at the Global Fusion event at Pestalozzi Village, Sedlescombe all weekend: highlights for me should include Sly and Robbie on Saturday night, and my second nervous breakdown sometime in the early hours of Sunday morning.. 14.06.05 Today (Tue), means it's probably time for Dean Adams to play Revolver, or somewhere nearby in Hastings: if that's indeed the case, it may well be last chance to catch him before next week's Spanish tour (which, if it doesn't change Rumiko's lives, can at least be relied upon to change their drinking habits). With a late change of venue, it's a Spirit Of Gravity night on Wed (15th Jun), upstairs at the Polar Central bar, Queens Road, Brighton (formerly The Lift), with Metronomy, Malevich and Same Actor. On the same night over in Hastings, both Burn Burn Burn and Regular John support Electric Six at The Crypt (they played before on their way up, and let's face it, they're on their way down again, but I reckon it'll still be worth a go) eight pounds fifty, all ages show, 7pm doors. 07.06.05 I've been a little late checking this out, but Madeline Milla's exhibition/installation is showing at University Of Brighton (Grand Parade, Brighton) this week, from last Sat (4th Jun) to this Thu (9th Jun); further details are on her relocated website www.madelinemilla.co.uk . Also in Brighton, it's another of those Litmus evening Hot Roddy appears at, at the Hanbury Ballroom tomorrow (Wed 8th). Right at the end of the week, The Crayons appear with Starscream, both playing acoustic sets, at the Namaskar Rooms, Eastbourne, Sun 12th. 31.05.05 After Rumiko Jr's triumphant baffling of the Black Horse crowd last night (what, no covers?!), Dean's apparently doing another gig down Harpers, Hastings tonight (Tue). Their forthcoming Spanish tour dates are now up too. Right at the end of the week on Sunday (5th June), Good Morning Captain amd Enablers are over in Brighton at the Freebutt. In other news, Nick Verlaine emails to say the video he's made for Rashamon's Windo Loca single will be included in a forthcoming Super 8 festival in Toronto, and it looks like we'll premier it at my party this Saturday (random Rashamon fans we don't actually know should contact me for details if they really want to see it!). Oh, and Lee and I made an attempt at the cdr version of Sun In Wintertime over the weekend, and cocked it up a bit, so it's probably going to remain as a promo only edition, with the cassette being the true version. Further details wherever it is on the website that I put these things. 22.05.05 Tomorrow (Mon 23rd), down in Harpers, Hastings, Regular John headline, with support from James and Dean, Hayley Savage and Greg Mulhern. Let's hope someone in the band is saving all the artwork they've been using, 'cos The Graphic Design Of Regular John would be a book worth publishing one day, top marks all round, especially with the latest William Morris direction they've taken. On Tue (24th May), Flying Marrows have their first gig in a while at the Freebutt, Brighton, with Bagheera, Tashtego, Pog and Capital Skill (um..?). Later in the week, on Saturday (28th May), Rufus Stone pulls out all the stops for a gig at Brass Monkey, Hastings. Meanwhile, the Black Horse Festival takes place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend at the Black Horse pub, Telham (on the road between Hastings and Battle), see www.blackhorsefestival.org.uk for more details. We've sometimes-rightly, but mainly-drunkenly, criticised the festival in the past, largely out of frustration at it's inability to broaden its remit and pick up on what's been developing musically in Hastings over the years; but recently younger, less well-connected artists have got more of a look-in, at the same time as the profile of the festival its pulling-power to more-familiar national and international acts has improved. The only evening we'll be in attendance this year will be the final, fourth night (Mon 30th) when Rumiko Jr ( www.rumikojr.com ) prop up the bottom of the bill at 8pm, but, in the end, good on 'em. Finally, since the success of last year's 7" on Highpoint Lowlife, Rashamon has been seeking a deal for a forthcoming album; in the meantime, a track from it gets previewed on the next Spirit Of Gravity radio show online at Totally Radio www.totallyradio.com , whilst two other non-album tracks are newly available as downloads from the Spirit Of Gravity website www.spiritofgravity.com . 19.05.05 Over in Brighton last night (Wed 18th) it was a Spirit Of Gravity night at the Prince Albert: performances due to include Monkey Knife Fight, another attempt at the Spirit Of Gravity Guitar Orchestra Fluxus event, and Minimal Impact's Sounds Of The Planets album launch. Still in Brighton, today (Thu) brings several more Spirit Of Gravity members out at a Control Alt Delete night at the Concorde 2 (Waxed Apple, Cakeboy, Mula, Hot Roddy, It Came From The Stars). Also, on Sat (21st Jun), The Flesh Happening are at the Hobgoblin, Brighton, too. I'm free rest of the week if anyone else is, and may be sorting new Dizzy Tiger stuff out over in Brighton. Over the next few weeks, it looks like Burn Burn Burn's debut 7" and the Rumiko Jr Spanish reissue should start appearing; I'll update the relevant pages of this site as soon as I've seen copies of any of these. The Crayons' album is now out... 16.05.05 Bit of an intense start to the week this one: it's Rumiko Jr at Smugglers, Hastings tonight (Mon); frontperson Dean Adams then hosts his evening down at Revolver, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 17th), followed by Tim Hoyte straight after, down the road at Harpers. 12.05.05 Tim Hoyte was at Revolver, Hastings back on Tue (10th May), but there's more to come this week: Tonight (Thu 12th) at Brass Monkey, Hastings, Regular John continue their deserved position as the town's support band of choice, though this time they're followed by Peter Brame, who was in Fame Academy or something (no, of course we didn't watch it; wasn't he meant to be the 'indie' one, or something?), so we can't imagine there's any point sticking around after they've played really. Anyway, Rumiko Jr bassist Rufus Stone has another of his regular funk&soul gigs at Harpers, Hastings on Friday (13th May); and it's another Ch3vy Stack Of Wax DJ night at Brass Monkey, Hastings on Saturday (14th May); but we'll see you next week... 03.05.05 For anyone with any energy left after the weekend, Dean Adams is playing Revolver tonight (Tue), followed by Mumm-Ra at Harpers (both in Hastings). Then on Thursday (5th May) The Crayons plug their new album at an Unscene gig at The Crypt, Hastings ( www.lazyfuck.co.uk ). 01.05.05 I've been up since 4:20 this morning, capturing sounds of a weekend's worth of spontaneous fireworks, morris dancing and motorbiking around Hastings for a forthcoming audio documentary (to be made available as this year's Dizzy Tiger Christmas present; put your email orders in!), but there's a few bar-gigs happening too. Tim Hoyte played Cavemoon cafe on Hastings seafront yesterday (Sat 30th Apr), and was by all accounts wonderful (First In Last Out Beer Festival swung it for us again though!) Marcus emails to tell us Rumiko's Alfie plays with The Better Things at Smugglers tonight (Sun)(the Fisher-Price tape recorder will probably still be in attendance); to be followed by a pagan love-in/ ritual sacrifice (venue tbc, bring sticks and hankies). So, hopefully you're all coming over our way for Jack-In-The-Green stuff on Bank Holiday Monday, in which case, uh-oh..! Don't expect anyone to be left standing for Revolver shenanigans the next day (Tue 3rd), but you never know...or rather, I never know! 18.04.05 Seeing as they've been good to us, I'm going to be listing all the forthcoming events from Brighton's Spirit Of Gravity collective from now on, whether involving friends of Dizzy Tiger (there's a euphemism..) or not. Starting this Wednesday (20th Apr) at the Prince Albert, below Brighton Rail Station, with Calika, Sold and kapzlog. Following on the same evening, from 10pm down on Brighton seafront, there's a fundraising-by-donation gig at The Volks for the Litmus electronica collective, featuring Hot Roddy, Daddy, Drops, Disc Eyes and more, see www.litmus.org for their details. Back in Hastings, Ch3vy do another DJ evening at Brass Monkey this Sat (23rd Apr), which I'm sure will be fine, but, sod it, we're off to All Tomorrow's Parties! I've not readied any special batches of tapes this time, but there'll probably be new Dizzy Tiger flyers we'll leave out near the merchandise stall in the main building, as usual. I think there may still be tickets remaining for this one, so get hold of your friends.. Here, for Reuben, is their website www.atpfestival.com . Good luck! 16.04.05 Still a little bit of a decision to make in Hastings today (Sat): Regular John and Undertow at The Crypt? Or, slightly randomly, Tim Hoyte's playing alongside the IDMC Gospel Choir at Battle Memorial Hall? The much-debated Rumiko Jr gig that was billed for Smugglers tonight is actually on May 16th instead, which will be honeymoon-tastic for some. If you're a bit bereft of your country-rockin action til then, aim for Revolver on Tuesdays, cos Dean's bound to end up there again sooner or later, surely.. 05.04.05 It's mostly Good Morning Captain stuff this week, what with their split single with Jacob's Stories due out shortly on Mid March Records. This evening (Tue) they play Hanbury Ballroom, Brighton as support to Thee More Shallows; Then on Thu (7th Apr) it's the actual single launch gig at the Sussex Arts Club, Brighton, both Good Morning Captain and Jacob's Stories will be appearing of course. Dean reckons we might have Good Morning Captain over with Rumiko Jr at the Smugglers very soon, will confirm this as soon as possible; it's also possible that he's playing Revolver, Hastings this evening (Tue) as well, but if not he'll probably be there next week instead... Lots more exciting stuff on the horizon too, promise.. 29.03.05 So, it's a big evening tonight (Tue), Passive-Aggressive One at The Volks, Madeira Drive, Brighton. 10pm-2am, five pounds, plus free compilation cdr with tracks from all the artists for the first 50 arrivals. Upstairs: Rashamon, The Chap, Rumiko Jr and Good Morning Captain, with DJing from Charlie Ridding. Downstairs: Si.cut-db, Minimal Impact Audio Destruction, Hot Roddy and Nathan Williams & Justin Worts, with DJing from me. It would be really good to see you. 23.03.05 We've nearly got on top of things as far as getting copies of Sun In Wintertime out to people goes, and have started hatching plans for the next batch of releases already, stay tuned. Now then, today (Wednesday) there's a great line-up at the ICA in London: Good Morning Captain (website now up www.goodmorningcaptain.co.uk ) appear alongside It's Jo And Danny, Tunng and Lionshare. Back home, Regular John and Mookie play Brass Monkey, Hastings this Thursday (24th Mar), though the chance to see The Pipettes ( www.geocities.com/thepipettes ) as part of the supporting cast at the Don't Feed The Poets event ( www.popadd.com/dontfeedthepoets ) at The Pig In Paradise is pretty tempting. Later in the week, The Crayons are at Stringbendys, Eastbourne on Saturday (26th Mar, three pounds fifty); whilst The Flesh Happening debut their new line-up and songs at The Freebutt, Brighton with The Guillotines. Eggs! 14.03.05 All the following gigs are in Hastings. First, looks like Rumiko Jr have pulled tonight's scheduled gig at Smugglers, but Dean should still be playing down Revolver the next day (Tue 15th). Smugglers then has Gorilla ( www.gorilla-world.co.uk ) on Wed (16th Mar). Regular John support Carbon/Silicon (a new Mick Jones/ Tony James outfit) at The Crypt on Fri (18th Mar). Finally, Ch3vy host an evening down Brass Monkey On Sat (19th Mar)( www.ch3vy.com ). That's enough! 11.03.05 There's a new event on Saturday (12th March) in Hastings, that could go either way: the Mad March Fayre runs all day on Hastings Pier, costs twelve pounds, and features a bunch of family day-out kinda stuff, alongside a load of bands playing, including Regular John, Brighton punkas Anal Beard, and worth-catching festival stalwarts Pass The Cat. We suggest you check their site www.madmarchfayre.com , but also the weather forecast. 07.03.05 This Wed (9th March) Rashamon appear at the Sprawl club (see www.sprawl.org.uk ), upstairs at The Charterhouse, 38 Charterhouse Street, London EC1, with Bohman Brothers and Tuner. Four pounds entry, 7.30-11.30pm. Can't tell you much more about it 'cos I've never been before. 02.03.05 Whether we're almost snowed-in by the weekend or not, it's gotta be worth going down Smugglers, Hastings this Sunday (6th March) for the Rumiko Jr/Regular John double-header. Don't worry, the rush of Spring gigs is almost upon us.. 23.02.05 There's only one thing this sort of weather reminds me of, and that's last-minute Slint ATP chalet-returns! Anyone? Well, if not, Regular John now launch their EP One at Smugglers, Hastings on Sat (26th Feb), after being postponed from the 12th. Tim Hoyte's there the next day (27th Feb), then Jonathan Martin is a few doors down at Harpers on the Mon (28th Feb), and Dean Adams is due further along at Revolver on the Tue (1st Mar). Quite frankly, I just want to go to Camber Sands, but we'll be at the Vincent Gallo one in April anyway. Have fun folks. 20.02.05 OK, it's a couple of months overdue, but Sun In Wintertime (DTMC09), the new Dizzy Tiger compilation, is now available, featuring Axis Deer, The Crayons, Emma Darling, The Flesh Happening, Flying Marrows, Good Morning Captain, Hot Roddy, Tim Hoyte, Jonathan Martin, Minimal Impact, Duff Parker, Duncan Pearce, Rashamon, Regular John and Volunteers. It's the cassette version at the moment (once I've run-off some copies and sorted out the sleeve this week), with the cdr edition to follow it sometime in the next few weeks, whenever Lee and I get the chance. It's going to snow isn't it? 07.02.05 Spring, anyone? Here's one way to spend the week...Over in Brighton tonight (Mon 7th), Good Morning Captain play with The Tenderfoot at The Greys. Tomorrow (Tue 8th), Tim Hoyte is Dean Adams' guest at Revolver in Hastings. At the end of the week, Regular John launch their debut EP One with a gig at Smugglers, Hastings (Sat 12th). Fill in spare moments exploring Rashamon's new website at www.passive-aggressive.co.uk . And if you're stuck for something to do this Thursday (10th Feb), you're welcome to come see me play unpopular records badly at the Gritti Palace bar on Hastings Pier; then sign yourself up for a turn on the (uniquely styled) decks, 'cos anyone can do it. 30.01.05 The Hastings Musicians Tsunami Appeal CD compilation is now out, available for a tenner. Apart from at gigs, we expect one way to obtain a copy would be to visit the Ottakers, Hastings website www.giddykipper.plus.com/ottakers/ , as it has been compiled by Rufus Stone and other staff there. Next week looks quite quiet, although Dean Adams and Hayley Savage play Harpers, Hastings next Tue (10th Feb). 29.01.05 Rufus Stone (Rumiko Jr bassist, and leader of his own small funk/soul band) is playing a few sets around Hastings today (Sat), raising money for the Disasters Emergency Committee. After appearing at The Street bar this afternoon, they're along at Smugglers from 9pm. A compilation CD has also apparently been pressed to raise more cash, available at these dates, featuring various Hastings musicians, many of whom could be expected to turn up for a few songs at Smugglers later too. We should be useful, and direct interested parties to the Disasters Emergency Committee site at www.dec.org.uk . 25.01.05 So it's Spirit Of Gravity down at the Freebutt, Brighton tonight (Tue), with Si-cut.db, Bitonic and Rashamon, 8.30 pm, three pounds; could go either way this one.. Meanwhile, Dean Adams hosts his session down at Revolver, Hastings this evening. There's also a bunch of fundraising for the tsunami fund going on in Hastings all over this weekend; I'll put the details up later in the week, or you can just pop in to Ottakers book shop in Hastings and speak to Rufus. Sorry, can you tell I'm on my lunchbreak? Later. 20.01.05 Blimey, a million and one gigs this week, so here goes. Yesterday (Wed 19th) two-thirds of Good Morning Captain were to play a drumless set at the Fringe Bar, Brighton. Today (20th Jan) it's the officially-changing-their-name gig for Rumiko Jr (formerly Donkey Kong Jr) at the Freebutt, Brighton; they were to be playing alongside Mudlow ( www.mudlow.co.uk ), from the West Pier Records label ( www.westpierrecords.com ), but apparently a couple of other acts have taken Mudlow's place. Meanwhile, Tim Hoyte plays The Wheatsheaf back over in Hastings. The next day (Fri 21st), Rumiko Jr zoom back in the other direction for a gig at the Ypres Inn, Rye. Saturday (22nd) Good Morning Captain play at a fundraiser for countries affected by the tsunami. Ten pounds gets you into the Pavilion Theatre, Brighton, where The Pipettes and Oom also appear. Finally, Dean gets his third gig of the week in, filling in for Alfie's scheduled appearance at Smugglers, Hastings on Sun 23rd (Rumiko Jr: country like crop rotation). 13.01.05 OK, Good Morning Captain play Sussex Arts Club, Brighton this evening (Thu) with The Tenderfoot and Bat For Lashes; it's a fiver. Now, I don't always manage to get to a computer in time to get all the gig dates for people up in time, but those of you following your calenders might have noticed that last Tue (that was 11th Jan) it was time for another of Dean Adams' fortnightly sessions down at Revolver, Hastings (and yes, I could have put a last-minute notification online while I was there, seeing as it's got one pound per half-hour internet access, but last time I did that I think I cocked the computers up, so I've been a bit cautious since then; Dizzy Tiger now recommend using your local library for free, then getting out quick if you fuck things up). Anyway, you missed another beauty of an evening, these are really becoming a crucible of songwriting and collaborating, so mark every other Tuesday in your diaries and get down there. Similarly, I didn't even notice Tim Hoyte was at Harpers the day before (Mon 10th, it was) but he's left some flyers around, so I've added the dates to the forthcoming lists above (including a turn down at Dean's evening next month; it all fits together). Finally, it might have been out a few weeks now, but you may want to get hold of SR50, a low-price (between five and seven pounds) double CD of fifty bands who've played at some of the first fifty Silver Rocket club nights in London; we mention this 'cos it's got a (probably posthumous) Castro track on it, but for the full, mightily impressive line-up (and to buy a copy) visit myweb.tiscali.co.uk/aicha/silverrocket . 08.01.05 Happy New Year kids. So! Not much on the go just yet, but a bit more later in the month (see above), though I think the lovely Tim Hoyte is playing the Cave Moon cafe on Hastings seafront this evening (Sat). Couple of bits of news though; Donkey Kong Jr have announced their change of name to Rumiko Jr, see their site at www.donkeykongjr.co.uk for the whys and wherefores of that one. Also over Christmas, we were pleasantly suprised when Radio 1 picked up on the Rashamon single, with Rob Da Bank playing the B-side on his stand-in for John Peel show (although we were on the piss that night at a Donkey Kong gig in town, so didn't get to hear this piece of lifelong-ambition filling..) All looking good for 2005 then. Am still chasing-up a handful of tracks for the Sun In Wintertime compilation (bloody musician slackers), so it's not due out now til February I expect: however, Lee from Passive/Aggressive has agreed to produce a susbsequent CDr version in the Spring for all of you (artists and punters) whose tape decks have worn-out. More updates nearer the time, of course. Not sure if or when the Ital Jets compilation and Donkey Kong Jr live tapes will be coming out; we started preparing rough attempts at each, but may have to hold back indefinitely on them now that Rumiko Jr's profile is about to rise; the same may apply to the projected tape of solo performances by Dean Adams, which we hadn't actually started recording yet. Never mind, the master tapes are safely locked away in the Dizzy Tiger vaults for future generations to marvel at. Oh, one last non-music thing; Rooth Calvert-Evans has another exhibition of her paintings running at White Rock Theatre, Hastings, this time for a fortnight, starting this Monday (10th Jan); more on her work somewhere below.. Have a good one, x

26.09.05 Life at Dizzy Tiger is getting more and more hectic and bizarre, but before my head falls off come down Smugglers, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 27th) for Dean's birthday celebrations, with Rumiko Jr and (probably) Regular John playing live. Sadly, though, the same night's proposed gig at the Union, Brighton (that would've featured Rashamon and many others supporting Sonic Boom) has been cancelled due to incoherence. Then, on Fri (30th Sep), Jonathan Martin plays Cavemoon, Hastings: you could try and pick up a ticket for the forthcoming Four Tet gig at Harpers (see message board) while you're there, that's if they've had them delivered yet. I'm knackered. See you tomorrow. Uh. 18.09.05 Axis Deer - Dc album (DTMC10) out now on cdr! Sun In Wintertime compilation album (DTMC09A) out now on cdr! I'm glad we set that cd burner up... Place your orders via email or whatever, sign up to the now-active mailing list (archive accessible at base of this page), and then go to some of the following gigs: This Tue (20th Sep) it's Spirit Of Gravity time at the Marlborough Theatre, Brighton. Same Actor, Minimal Impact and Faoi do their bit for the cause. Or do you want to catch up with Dean and Jim at Revolver, Hastings again? It's always worth the trip. Then on Thu (22nd Sep) you lucky, lucky people are spoilt for choice once more: Regular John at the Pav Tav, Brighton? Or Rumiko Jr at Brass Monkey, Hastings? Two absolute blinders promised, I'm sure. No excuses for staying home. See you somewhere! 15.09.05 Got the new Flesh Happening ep at last, it's SO good! And they're playing a gig to launch it over at the Engine Rooms, Brighton tonight (Thu), but we've got to stay home and sort more Dizzy Tiger stuff out, sigh. Also in Brighton tonight, it's Good Morning Captain, I'm Being Good and Projections at the Freebutt, another good choice, probably. Meanwhile, the Cherry Gardens tour (Tim Hoyte and Kokopelli only, this time) gets over to the Sanctuary Cafe in Hove the same evening (blimey, busy Brighton); before concluding with a hometown gig at Battle Memorial Hall on Sat (17th Sep), where Flying Marrows, Tim Hoyte and Kokopelli are joined by Waking The Witch, who are apparently an acoustic four-piece, and possibly not goths at all, oh no. Otherwise, sign yourselves up to our mailing list asap, 'cos we might actually get around to doing a mail-out over the weekend, thanks. 06.09.05 Dean hosts his evening at Revolver, Hastings tonight (Tue 6th), the Jonathan Martin takes a turn tomorrow (Wed 7th), and Dean and Jim are both up the High Street in the First In Last Out, Hastings on Thur (8th Sep). The same day, the Cherry Gardens tour (Tim Hoyte, Flying Marrows & Kokopelli) makes it over to the Avenue Theatre, Sittingbourne; then goes on to Seaford (Little Theatre) on Fri (9th Sep), Eastbourne (Underground Theatre) on Sat (10th Sep) and Hastings (Green Fair, Alexandra Park) on Sun (11th Sep) during the afternoon. Enough? For now. 01.09.05 Between 2nd and 17th Sep, the Mrs Yarringtons store are promoting the Cherry Gardens tour: a few dates around Kent and Sussex with Tim Hoyte, Flying Marrows and Kokopelli. The first leg of it starts tomorrow (Fri 2nd) at Haywards Heath (Clair Halls), followed by Sat (3rd Sep) in Tunbridge Wells (Christ Church Centre) and Mon (5th Sep) in Hastings (Phoenix Arts Centre), see www.mrsyarringtons.com for the full agenda. Also on the Monday, Regular John are down at Smugglers, Hastings (nb: they've pulled out of their billed Unscene gig at The Crypt tonight, due to more exciting gig-attendance opportunity: Pixies!). Plus, their new site should be up very shortly, having moved to www.regularjohn.co.uk . Anyhow, if things go smoothly, there may actually also be some new cdrs out on Dizzy Tiger in a few days time, but you know... 27.08.05 It's Bank Holiday time at last, and there's a couple of good reasons to get out of the house on the Monday itself (29th Aug). First, over in the gardens of the Ypres Inn in Rye, Mama Josie's All-Stars, Pablo Diablo and The Big Blue are playing during the afternoon and evening. This Yprestock event was fabulously relaxing last year, so hopefully this year will work out just as well. Get back to Hastings by 9:30 though, as it's the End Of Summer Party at Harpers: Regular John, Dean Adams and Greg Mulhearn all appear. It was a short summer, Charlie Brown. 22.08.05 Yes, it's been a long weekend, but due to Ultimate Alternative-related inaccuracies it's only today (Mon) that you should consider staggering along to Smugglers for Jonathan Martin's gig, and falling asleep afterwards on the sofa at the back, like so many of us have. If you've got super-human reserves of energy, Dean Adams will be back at Revolver the next day (Tue 23rd), heaven help us all. 19.08.05 Firstly, we've got round to starting a Dizzy Tiger mailing list. Please submit your email address in the box at the bottom of this page (or on the Contacting Us page) if you want to recieve the very occasional newsletters we'll be sending. I'm being polite enough not just to add people's addresses who've contacted us for other reasons (there's enough spam floating around - what a strange concept!), so you'll have to make a specific request. Right then, is everything happening at once this week, or what? For instance, there's two quality festivals taking place over the weekend ahead (Fri 19th - Sun 21st): the It's Jo And Danny-organised Green Man Festival near Hay-On-Wye, Powys, Wales ( www.thegreenmanfestival.co.uk ) is full of your favorite alt.country/nu-folk/electronica acts, including Good Morning Captain, though it's long sold-out unfortunately (want to hear my Go!Service 12" instead?) Meanwhile, The Secret Garden festival takes place near Cambridge, and Burn Burn Burn are amongst those playing. Apart from a photo in the NME a few weeks back, this one's a bit new to us, so visit www.secretgardenparty.com for more details. Over in Brighton on Saturday (20th Aug), there's also Flying Marrows, at the Komedia, 44-47 Gardner Street, with a group called Top Cats. But if, like us, you're not going away this weekend, there's still stuff left to do in Hastings. Why not have a beach party after the Old Town carnival (stand outside our house and wave!) this Saturday? If you're in Brighton by the Sunday (21st Aug), its another of those Litmus things down the Volks with Hot Roddy et al (two or three pounds, free cd for first 20 punters, live dub 3pm-8pm, "electro breaks n blips" 9pm-2am). If you're in Hastings though, head down French's early evening (6pm) to see Mumm-ra play. Should be pretty celebratory! Follow that by staggering along to the Dragon Bar or something, it's a birthday day!. Ain't this the life? 15.08.05 This is one of those weeks crammed full of stuff to do, so take notes or something. Tomorrow (Tue 16th) Good Morning Captain play at the Sussex Arts Club, Brighton, with Actress Hands, Ginger Lee and Mary Hampton. It's a nice venue, bit like being in a posh hotel, weirdly. The next day (Wed 17th) in Brighton it's a Spirit Of Gravity night at the Marlborough Theatre, with Rashamon, Komuso and Hz. Doesn't look like Rashamon's Frightened By The Familiar cd album will be ready 'til the week after, but you can pre-order off Lee on our message board (by the way, we've turned off the board's anti-swearing feature, so go potty-mouth crazy, kids). Also on Wednesday, up at the Forum, Tunbridge Wells, it's Regular John, Age Of Reason and Fall For Fiction. Definitely a wanna-be-in-two-places-at-once night then. 07.08.05 On Tuesday (9th Aug), down at the Volks, Brighton, it's the Wrong Music 3rd Birthday Party. Many, many noisy sods play, including Hot Roddy, Minimal Impact and, of course, Shitmat: see www.wrongmusic.co.uk for the rest. At the other end of the rainbow, Dean Adams should be down at Revolver, Hastings the same evening. Site news: the Message Board is up and running (though no-one's tried adding to the Guest Book page here yet, so I dunno if that works or has a point), with a few strands from bands and friends outside the area. Feel free to post your own replies, reviews, news and doggerel there; the board does seem to automatically alter some sexual swear words though, so be ingenious and find your own ways around that problem. Assuming everything doesn't stop here, I'm going to be posting any bits and pieces of press that are vaguely relevant on the board, as they appear. I've also got a box of past articles from the local and national press (over there, in the corner, beneath that crate of pre-punk 7"s) that I can pick from and post up, if anyone makes a request through the board for anything they might want to read again. Ok. 01.08.05 Well, here's a turn-up, Lowgold are back! They play the Water Rats in Grays Inn Road, Kings Cross, London tomorrow (Tue 2nd) with The Basics and Neatpeople (if, like us, you have no idea who these other two acts are, head over to Lowgold's still-active website www.welcometowinners.com for the info). The chaps do appear to be in control of their activities at the moment, and are preparing a double-cd compilation of B-sides etc, which is gonna be good, so get over there if at all possible. Back in Hastings the next day (Wed 3rd), there's a great line-up at The Carlisle down on the seafront: Regular John, The Heaters, Natalie's Box and The Red Shift. All of them have tunes, hair and, in a couple of cases, trombones, but once again we ask you to trust our judgement on this one. Finally (and I may really regret this eventually), we now have a message board! I suspect that if anyone actually bothers to use it I'll soon be out of my depth doing the admin role on it: in fact my inability to understand quite what I was doing when I set it up is reflected in the URL code, which I intended to be anonymously closer to this one, but in fact reads as dizzytigerstu.proboards58.com . Anyway, talk amongst yourselves... 27.07.05 Over at the Freebutt, Brighton this Sat (30th Jul) it's Good Morning Captain and Air Formation. Now, though, I've got the cd writer working, which should be another step forward for Dizzy Tiger (definitely not abandoning tapes yet though, got some split releases coming soon, including Minimal Impact, Frontier Telegraph, Regular John, Ellen Cherry and others in some combination). Hoping to get reissue and compilation cdr albums out from Axis Deer and The Ital Jets still; and will also begin a series of singles and ep's hopefully to include more friends such as Axis Deer and Regular John (again), plus Rashamon, Rumiko Jr etc. Some of these will be on 3"cdr and some not: we may do some of the 3"s as a singles club, though having had subscriptions to such erratically ran ventures as the old Rough Trade and Clawfist labels' ones in the past, I'm aware of how these promising intentions can run aground. Should be able to get the next Dizzy Tiger compilation out on cdr in the near future, maybe with most of these acts along with The Flesh Happening, Burn Burn Burn, Good Morning Captain (though we may try and get singles from them too) and anyone else we feel is right. So that's most of the rest of the year's plans, see the Promo Bit page occasionally for progress on all these and more. And feel free to suggest yourself or your friends for involvement, we may well take you up on it. 25.07.05 Dean (Rumiko Jr) and Jim are doing the thing at Revolver, Hastings tomorrow evening (Tue 26th). I was hoping to announce lots of exciting cdr stuff this week, but can't install the writer I bought just yet. Will get some help and hopefully be able to come back with more news later this week... 21.07.05 So, Regular John got played on the Unsigned segment of Huw Stephens' Radio One show (one of the three post-Peel Onemusic slots) back on Tue (19th Jul). Sucker Punch, from the debut ep, got picked, and if you were doing something else at the time (lying in bed, listening to The Faust Tapes: you?) you can go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onemusic/huw/ and replay the whole show, or click on the Unsigned page and download the track as an mp3. But crucially, there's also a Message Board, where you can do the right thing and tell everyone how great Regular John are, that you saw them first, and why BBC bosses should be sending them out on a tour of the regions on the back of a truck. If you've not made up your mind yet, they're also playing The Carlisle, Hastings tomorrow evening (Fri 22nd) with Age Of Reason and Einsteifen. It's a public service. And on that note, it wuld be utterly remiss of me not to recommend going down Brass Monkey on Sat (23rd Jul) for The Gin Palace/Mudlow gig ( www.punkrockblues.co.uk ), I see fun to be had. 18.07.05 Press #1: Rumiko Jr get a fun profile in the current Hastings Observer (dated 15th July), and they're playing down Smugglers, Hastings tonight (Mon), run! Press #2: Rashamon's Windo Loca single at last gets lead review (plus photo) in the Size Matters page of the new issue of The Wire (issue 258, Red Krayola cover www.thewire.co.uk ), blimey. Later in the week, on Wed (20th Jul), there's a Totally Bored night upstairs at the Fringe Bar, Kensington Gardens, Brighton, with Incite, The Strained Assembly, The Reverend and Monster Bobby. (This seems to be replacing the previously billed Spirit Of Gravity night at the Prince Albert, where Incite would have played, along with Komuso and Onemancrimewave). Meanwhile, the same evening, Burn Burn Burn are up at the Buffalo Bar, 259 Upper Street, London. So yay! 11.07.05 Dean Adams is due at Revolver, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 12th), hopefully. Regular John and Start Over are at an Unscene night at The Crypt Hastings on Thu (14th Jul), definately ( www.unscene.co.uk ). Rumiko Jr are also playing at an event in Cornwall next weekend, organised by Tom Palmer (singer-songwriter and former Hastings resident), you need to make contact via his website www.tom-palmer.co.uk for time and place details, it'll be worth the trip. 07.07.05 If people feel like getting out of it this weekend, Rumiko Jr play Smugglers, Hastings this Fri (8th Jul), alongside Louis Wiggett (Bronco Bullfrog) and accomplices. Then on Sunday (10th Jul), it's Regular John's turn at the same venue. I've been wrestling with Paula's computer at home, and seem to have made a start on improving the photo pages on the site at last: there's now one for band pictures, and one for record sleeves etc, with lots more illustration to be added as I get the time. Any suggestions or pointers to other pictures that could go on are welcome, ta.

31.12.05 As far as your New Year's Eve choices go tonight (Sat), there's only really a long Club Apotheosis event at Harpers, Hastings. Regular John are playing, as are many other djs and performers (including DJ Food), and it goes on all night, but the entry fee is quite pricey, so in all conscience we're not gonna recommend going (if you do want to find out more, their site is at http://www.club-apotheosis.com). We may instead go along to the Delusions Of Grandeur party along the prom at the Gritti Palace on the pier, 'cos at least they don't take themselves so seriously: and none of the flyers or the website (www.grittipalace.co.uk) mention an entrance fee (nb: unsubstantiated, and as far as we were concerned, unreliable rumours were putting about a large sum as an entry fee at the Gritti, which if it had turned out to be true would mean we'd be sodding off down the pub. Don't listen to them: it is free!) Whatever happens, there's a much better chance to catch up in 2006, 'cos on New Year's Day (Sun) both Regular John and Rumiko Jr play Smugglers, Hastings. For free, of course, as it should be. Later in the week, on Tue (3rd Jan), Jonathan Martin's group Katjam are down revolver, Hastings too, if you're up for that by then. Incidentally, we've finally sorted out what was to have been this year's Dizzy Tiger Christmas present (a bit late, but there you go): called Sacrifice, it's a 60-minute tape of recordings made during 2005 at the Jack In The Green festival in May, and later at Hastings Bonfire in October: loads of drumming, dancing, fireworks, motorbikes and general mayhem, with a castof probably thousands, we think. It's available for free too (and is DTMC12), to anyone who wants one, so just get in touch. Also, if anyone feels like summarising 2005, and your hopes for 2006, then head over to our rather busy Message Boards, ta. Hope it was good for everyone though. 24.12.05 Well I haven't had a drink all morning, but I'm all lit up like a Christmas tree. All the bands are taking a well-deserved rest for the week, and so's the label, though the message boards will be open for business as usual, so please come over and wish us all the best that we wish for you. We'll be back with some updates on the site this time next week (I'm gonna shift a lot of the older news on this page onto the Archive section of the message boards for a start), but if anyone does have any urgent gigs they want plugging before then, just send us an email or message us on the board. Looks like things really might kick-off next year, so anyone else who wants to tag along with us idiots is welcome to get in touch with mp3s, site links or demos (you'll have to mail us for the address, as we didn't ever put one on this site, it seems, though we should have a PO Box up and running sometime in the early part of next year). Um, so yeah, have a great Christmas, and cross all your fingers for a fantastic 2006. Cheers for a good year, xxx 19.12.05 One week to Christmas, and if you wanna do what we're doing (ie put off buying your presents 'til the last minute, and spend all your wages on drink instead) then there's plenty going on this week. Tonight (Mon) it's a double-bill of rock action at Smugglers, Hastings, with Regular John and the return of Cloudesely Shovell (John, Louis and Bill - a Gorilla/Broncos mind-meld). We'll join you just as soon as we've smashed the Spencer ,trashed the Gaffney, and beaten the Bishop at the FILO Christmas quiz! Tuesday (20th Dec), and Hayley Savage makes a welcome return to The Street, Hastings, with Deano & Jim supporting (which I earlier billed as an Alfie Bernardi gig, due to misreading his email, but he'll be there anyway, I expect!); though dear Christa's having a birthday bash at Revolver too, if you wanna pop by. Meanwhile, over in Brighton, it's the Spirit Of Gravity Christmas party at the Fortune Of War, where Hot Roddy (Same Actor album out now on Bip-Hop! www.bip-hop.com ) will perform his Elvis tribute, along with Britch, DJ Cheesemaster, and, probably, many more. Wednesday (21st Dec), and Jonathan Martin presents an Organic 2005 gig at Kollege Kantina, St Leonards with his friends; meanwhile back in Brighton it's a Totally Bored event at The Fringe in Kensington Gardens, where Rashamon, Eaten By Children and DJ Crummy Dog are amongst the entertainment. Thursday (23rd Dec), and it's the turn of Audiocandy to hold a Christmas Party, as usual at Brass Monkey, Hastings, with a top line-up of Regular John, Rumiko Jr and Starscream, and all the antics Del can dream up, no doubt. Kim Wan and Maya Evans should be providing alternative DJ turns up the road at their regular weekly Lounge Act night at Heroes. Other than all that, expect an action-packed Christmas weekend in an unofficial propping-up-the-bars manner, and we'll see you out and about. Have fun, x 12.12.05 Deano & Jim are due down Revolver, Hastings again tomorrow (Tue 13th), and there's a load of bands (details are conflicting, but we're talking teenage boys with guitars, mainly) at Smugglers, Hastings tonight (Mon). Apart from that, most of our lot seem to be resting this week, so if you're completely stuck for something to do, can I suggest coming to the Dragon bar, George Street, Hastings on Thu (15th Dec) and being nice to me while I dj records no-one likes really clumsily? Thanks. Oh, seeing as Dizzy Tiger Music Co is always several steps behind the rest of the independent scene, we've only just put ourselves up on MySpace, in order to swap anecdotes about what an arsehole everyone associated with News International is. Actually, I'm just on the pull, so I won't bother putting the url up, I'm sure you can find it. Dizzy Tiger - it's all about the music. 05.12.05 The Christmas gigs are starting to appear now; but first in the non-Christmas style, it's Rumiko Jr at Smugglers, Hastings tonight (Mon). If you see me there, I will be a bit unwashed from the weekend, sorry! Tomorrow (Tue 6th) Tim Hoyte entertains the folk along at Revolver, Hastings - I don't think that one's Christmassy either. But on Wednesday (7th Dec) it's The Flesh Happening Christmas special (oh God..) at the Engine Room, Brighton, along with Bela Emerson, Grizzly Giant and Fokker Wolf. Friday (9th Dec) and it's Lowgold's seasonal special, with Turn and Everything On Black, at the Camden Barfly, London. Meanwhile, Jonathan Martin and friends play Bar Blue, St Leonards the same night - though I think we can safely guarantee no mention of Christmas at this one... And if that wasn't enough for one night, over at the Tap 'n' Tin, Chatham, Flying Marrows are also playing, with a group called The Big. And that really is it for the week, isn't it? Can I go back to bed now? 01.12.05 Firstly, Tim Hoyte is down at Cavemoon, Hastings on Saturday (3rd Dec), which will be fine and cosy. But, the most recommended gig this weekend has got to be HomeGrown, down at Eat@ Claremont, Hastings the same evening. Zoe Armfield has organised music from herself, Mark Rodrigues (The Crayons) and a long-awaited local appearance from Rashamon, along with poetry from Richard Evans and Justin Rhyme (I really hope that's his real name, 'cos it's an inexcusable pun otherwise. Don't worry, in common with our Richard, he's good and good-looking, so it'll be fine!), and, I think, stand-up comedy from The Butcher Boys. Admission is three pounds, starts at 8pm; Eat@ is a non-smoking venue (as it's also a wholefood cafe), but it does have infra-red toilets, which is quite exciting and space-age (don't sit still or stand there too long waiting for events to take their course though, as in theory the lights could go out on you - wave your arms around or something). Irritatingly, some of us are gonna miss it 'cos we're off to The Nightmare Before Christmas over in Pontins, Camber Sands for the weekend, but it'd be daft to trade-in the promises of a gigantic night out there for a truncated one in town, however many of our fine friends are appearing. So! Enjoy your various gigs, parties and birthdays wherever you end up going, and begin the Christmas social whirling. x 28.11.05 First gig of the week looks like Dean and Jim down at Revolver, Hastings, tomorrow (Tue 29th), as you might expect. This gives us a vague reason to mention that former Rumiko Jr harmonica/lap steel player Alfie Bernardi (also ex of Mama Josie & The Alleykatz, current frontman of Eight Miles High, amongst others) has just released his cd album Stranger, featuring contributions from Dean & Rufus (Rumiko Jr), along with many more of his friends from his other groups (Josie, Jo Brookes, Russel Field, Gez Donelly et al): Alfie's gig down Smugglers last night (Sun 27th) indicated that it's gonna be worth a listen. Available from usual non-commercial Hastings outlets, no doubt. Oh blimey, it's nearly December: more to follow shortly... 24.11.05 Tomorrow (Fri 25th), Rumiko Jr are off to Eastbourne for a change, playing with Tim Williams and The Late Greats upstairs at Via, in Terminus Road. Saturday (26th Nov) finds The Flesh Happening up at the Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, London. If any Hastings pub landlords are gonna be opening all night from now on, could they let us know please? Cheers! 21.11.05 I like snow, please - icy icy! Tonight (Mon), Rashamon plays at Sketch Parlour, 9 Conduit Street, London. Will he get back to Portslade? If the trains are running, he's got another gig tomorrow (Tue 22nd) at the Fortune Of War, Brighton. Mind you, it's also Spirit Of Gravity the same night at the Marlborough Theatre, Brighton, with Capslock, Malevich and ad:art, what's an electronikid to do? Wednesday then (23rd Nov), and the focus switches to Hastings: there's an acoustic Crayons set from Mark and Chris at The Street, with Becky from Bariier Dutch. Meanwhile, it's Club Apotheosis time (www.club-apotheosis.com) at Harpers, with another third of Fridge this time: Adem, playing with our own two Tims, the Smart and the Hoyte. That's plenty for now, more later in the week! 16.11.05 Hmm, tomorrow (Thu 17th), various Hastings publicans are gonna try and flog you a load of wine under the auspices of their annual Beaujolais Day, which isn't really our scene, but if you're lucky enough not to have a job or anything and can get down The Street in the afternoon there's sets from Deano & Jim, and also Roger Carey plus guests. From 5pm, the event switches to Brass Monkey, and at some point there's music from Mama Josie's All Stars, and Mudlow on a visit from Brighton. Looks like the Dragon Bar are getting in on the act as well, with similar live music turns happening there, but details are sketchy. An alternate plan for the day could involve visiting some of the events of the Word About Town literary festival, which started in Hastings yesterday (Tue). One of the highlights (for us) is also on tomorrow evening (Thu 17th) along at Eat @ Claremont where The Egg Box poets present an evening which includes poetry from Richard Evans and music from Tim Hoyte (it's free, but they'd like donations if you can). A third option for the day (it's a busy Thursday) is The Heaters unveiling their new line-up around the corner in Harpers, if only for the potential bust-ups with sacked band-members, the Regular army, etc. It's gonna be a long night... To return to less booze-fuelled happenings, it's worth going back to the literature festival over the rest of the week. Word About Town has only been running three years in Hastings, and gets better every time: and other events of note over the next few days include Ken Campbell's The Meaning Of Life (St Mary-in-the-Castle, Fri 18th, evening), Iain Sinclair (The Electric Palace, Sat 19th, afternoon), Adrian Mitchell & others (St Mary-in-the-Castle, Sat evening), The Book Of Job - The Musical (St Mary-in-the-Castle, Sun 20th, afternoon) and Rory Mcleod (St Mary-in-the-Castle, Sun evening). See www.popadd.com/dontfeedthepoets for more info. Off we go... 14.11.05 Already, it's Jonathan Martin at Harpers, Hastings tonight (Mon), and Dean & Jim down at Revolver, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 15th). 08.11.05 For our urban friends, Lowgold support the recent release of their double-cd Keep Music Miserable compilation album (no, this isn't a joke) at the Metro, Oxford Street, London tomorrow (Wed 9th). Slightly closer to the coast, The Crayons support Kubb and Cord at the Tunbridge Wells Forum the same day (but than Kubb record is all over Radio One, and is actually shit, so don't worry about having to catch the train home before the end). Looks a bit quiet down our neck of the woods otherwise, though keep a note in your diaries for the 13th November (ie this Sunday) release of Regular John's Defeat All Tigers ep on Dizzy Tiger. Available from here, and all good (and, inevitably, bad) Dizzy Tiger stockists, which now (thanks to the sterling efforts of the band) includes selected independent shops across continental Europe: see www.regularjohn.co.uk for details. The costs for this ep have risen from a quid, to probably about two quid, which is a shocking 100% increase, of course, and further demonstrates the rapid pace at which the label is selling out, ha ha. Post your complaints on the message board, or shut up. 02.11.05 After all that, I thought it was just Dean and Jim at Revolver, Hastings last night (Tue), then Jonathan Martin at The Angel, Hastings on Sat (5th Nov)- at least you'll have a good view of the fireworks from up there. But then Dean mentioned that Rumiko Jr and Tim Williams ( www.tim-williams.net ) are both at Smugglers, Hastings on Sun (6th Nov), which'll be a great way to round the week off. Tim is visiting from the USA again: his previous gig at the Smugs back in June was grand, so this is well worth a visit. 26.10.05 Can you spot the pattern for the next seven days? Tomorrow (Thu 27th) Regular John, The Scallywags and Analogical play an Unscene night at The Crypt, Hastings (all-ages, early show). Then on Sat (29th Oct), Regular John and Burn Burn Burn do a Hallowe'en thing at The Crypt, Hastings (again), which'll be great. On Hallowe'en itself (next Mon), Volunteers and October All Over (who not-coincidentally have a very appropriate name for an Oct 31st gig, and are ex-Flex etc, and who's site is at www.octoberallover.co.uk ) play the Bull and Gate, Kentish Town, London; whilst Regular John uphold their end of things at Smugglers, Hastings with Dean and Jim. As you may be close to guessing, the new Regular John ep is now very close to forthcoming - keep your eye on those Hastings Observer features... 24.10.05 It's Spirit Of Gravity time at the Marlborough Theatre, Brighton again tomorrow (Tue 25th), this time with Voltek, Dan Powell, Nigel Samways and Dead Texan. Thanks to SOG for plugging the latest Dizzy Tiger stuff in their mail-outs: now I just need to actually post people the tapes they've paid for... Incidentally, as if this site and it's attendant message boards weren't enough for you, some of us have started new blogs too: clickable links are on the ...And Our Friends page of this site. Whatever next? 16.10.05 Yes, it's Sunday, but as well as Jonathan Martin at the Kollege Kantina, St Leonards (as mentioned below), you could also go see Good Morning Captain over at the Hanbury Ballroom, Brighton. Next week, Tuesday (18th Oct) should bring Dean and Jim back to Revolver, Hastings, though they've got several other gigs this week (as you'll see), so no promises for this one. The same day also sees the first date of the three week Wrong Music Magical Mystery Tour (18th Oct - 4th Nov) of the UK and Holland; loads of gigs, noise and possibly Dizzy Tiger tapes (so long as Shitmat remembered to pick them up from Edgeworld), best just check www.wrongmusic.com or www.shitmat.co.uk for the details. Then on Wednesday (19th Oct), Tim Hoyte is at the Dragon, George Street, Hastings; while Dean and Jim are back along at The Street, Hastings, too, with posters and everything. Just in case you've not been paying attention to the message boards, a load of us will be down Harpers, Hastings on Saturday (22nd Oct), 'cos Four Tet, Caribou and The Russian Futurists are playing, which is nothing to do with any of our bands or labels, but looks like a lot of fun anyway! Finally, Dean and Jim are at The Street, Hastings again on Sunday (23rd Oct), supporting Ghostwriter, who was fuckin great last time he was over, so yay. 10.10.05 Tomorrow (Tue 11th) come celebrate Helen's birthday at Smugglers, Hastings, during which her boyfriend's band Rumiko Jr will entertain the barflies with some popular tunes. Round the corner in Harpers, Sellophane Sun are playing: this is a bit of a one-off gig by a reduced line-up of a great indiepop group who've been in contact with us recently, worth running back-and-forth to catch some, we reckon. Next up, you might be aware that Thu 13th has been declared (by the BBC) John Peel Day, and dozens of gigs around (some of) the world are marking his passing. Smugglers, Hastings are putting on Trenchfoot UK, Naked Angel and Angelville; meanwhile, ignore the notice in NME that Regular John are there too, in actuality the Peel Day gig they're playing is at the Seven Stars in Canterbury. I do rather feel that there are other, possibly better, certainly less-obligatory ways to celebrate John Peel's life, and unless Ellen wants to meet up at the Regular John gig on Thursday, people are welcome over to go through the tape-box and relive their favourite early 90's Peel sessions (Happy Flowers! Stella Chewese and Earthquake! Dandelion Adventure! and so on...) Final gig of the week takes place in the Kollege Kantina, St Leonards, with Jonathan Martin. It used to be Cherrys, you know, so you could always come along and relive your favourite early 90's drug busts, knife fights, Zombie Birdhouse discos, and so on... 05.10.05 But there's more! Tonight (Wed), it's a full night of Regular John, Noxious, Ripchord and The Heaters down at The Crypt, Hastings, for a Galaxy Records event ( www.galaxyrecords.net ) at 8pm. And over in Brighton, as part of the Brighton Live events (um, anyone got the details on all this?), Hot Roddy, Sold and DJ Crummy Dog (it just get's better, don't it?) are downstairs at the Sanctuary cafe. By the way, if you're in Hastings next Sat (8th Oct) for the bonfire, make some noise for the Fisher Price tape recorder! The results will be available around Christmas. 02.10.05 We all have colds, do you? This hasn't stopped the Dizzy Tiger label marching onwards, devouring everything in it's path, as another new release is already done! This time it's the long-delayed Cassette Pair #3 (DTMC11), now featuring two giants of electronic noise (courtesy of our friends at Spirit Of Gravity): Minimal Impact and Shitmat. Play as loud as possible! There's also several more gigs coming up this week: on Tuesday (4th Oct) Dean and Jim are due down Revolver, Hastings again; whilst over in Brighton, Rashamon, Hot Roddy and, erm, Dr Bastardo play the Fortune Of War, Kings Road Arches, Brighton (see the message boards via www.passive-aggressive.co.uk for updates on this).

27.03.06 Deano's due at Revolver, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 28th), with the current likelihood of Matt & Bonj from Regular John, amongst others, turning up for a few songs. On Friday (30th Mar), the now-frequently gigging The Flesh Happening turn up at The Ocean Rooms, Brighton; whilst over in Harpers, Hastings, Regular John host another full evening, with help from Deano, Rufus, Hayley and Adam. Please note that Rashamon's gig thios weekend at Ordio Enjinn, Islington has been postponed due to building-work or something. We've got to be up that way anyway for wedding-reception shenanigans, so if any Cockney Metrosexuals want to put us up for the weekend then give us a bell. We'd just like to thank Luke the cat for his assistance with typing this entry this morning (he seems to be trying to use his cold wet nose to hold down the Shift key at the moment...) 24.03.06 Unusual events if obscure places tomorrow (Sat 25th). Way out in Hitchin, The Flesh Happening play a place called Club 85. Hertfordshire will never have seen the like, and we know, 'cos we all spent far too long living there. Meanwhile, out in the sticks (but they're our sticks), it's Whatlington Festival time (presumably in some kind of Village Hall, but it's such a small place you'll probably be able to find the venue just by cocking an ear): Flying Marrows, Cove and Blackouts are all playing, which is a fine line-up. And then, up in Soho, there's some kind of special evening (Chicken Stock, we think it was called) at the Tatty Bogle Club: this is technically a members' club, but if you visit www.thetattybogle.net you'll be able to get sorted for the evening. Both Regular John and Rumiko Jr are playing, alongside loads of other acts (see details on that Tatty Bogle site: last time we looked the RJ bands weren't on the list, but trust us they're playing), short sets only, but there you go. If this all seems a bit rambling or the typing's gone awry, blame it on last night's excellent but late and drunk Gilded Palace Of Sin gig over in Brighton. Again Again! 20.03.06 It's a full week, starting tomorrow (Tue 21st) in Brighton, for Spirit Of Gravity at the Marlborough Theatre: the line-up is now Komuso, Miasmos and Ry-Om. The same night, The Flesh Happening get to the Luminaire in Kilburn, that city won't know what's hit them. Back in Brighton, Thursday (23rd March) brings a Gilded Palace Of Sin promotion, with Loose Recordings acts The Corb Lund Band (who my housemate Carrie heartily recommends) and Roger Dean Young & The Tin Cup at the Hanbury Ballroom, supported by our own Rumiko Jr, who are very excited, as you would be. Tickets are available from both the Rounder and Resident record shops in Brighton, though we're gonna try and pick some up on the door. As you can see above, there's gonna also be loads going on in different place at the weeknd, but we'll post more info about all that later in the week. 14.03.06 Deano's due down Revolver, Hastings again tonight (Tue), but apart from that it looks a bit quiet, at least until the weekend, when Rashamon supports Nathan Fake and Uneven Dots at Harpers, Hastings on Sat (18th Mar). We've failed to establish whether there's much in the way of advance tickets for this one, so maybe just turn up about 9 o'clock, or hope that they update their website www.club-apotheosis.com with the info (or try searching Myspace for the Harpers page, we think it's www.myspace.com/thatvenue ). Otherwise, the Dizzy Tiger Spring-Break is going nicely, thank-you, and we'll have the label running again from 1st April, probably, or maybe just when the clocks go forward. 10.03.06 Last-minute plans for the weekend: Tonight (Fri 10th) it's Wrong Music time at the Volks, Brighton; then on Saturday (11th Mar) Regular John, Analogical and Inhumayne are up in Heroes, Hastings (although the last time we reported a Regular John gig there, last week, we were wrong, and we got the wrong day for this one earlier, so approach anything you read on this site with caution); while Rumiko Jr have also got a gig, further down Havelock Road at Brass Monkey, the same night, so that's all good! See you there. Well, somewhere. 06.03.06 Tonight (Mon) at Harpers, Hastings, Canned Jam are playing, and the flyers helpfully list the band members (Jonathan Martin, Simon Shaw, Steve Dimitri and Colin Gibson on this occasion) if you're undecided or something. Then tomorrow (Tue 7th), Rashamon's got another gig (rescheduled) at the Fortune Of War, Brighton. Now, it shouldn't make a lot of difference at the moment, but the we've put the offline activities of Dizzy Tiger Music Co into a temporary suspension while a few things get sorted out energy-wise (translation: we're knackered): the websites will continue to operate, and orders for releases will still be taken and fulfilled, but otherwise we really need a pause-for-thought. Normal service will be resumed in a few days, weeks or months, as soon as we work out what we're doing. Any suggestions always welcome, of course, 01.03.06 And then it was Spring. Tomorrow (Thu 2nd), it's another Other Words open mic poetry/music event at Bar Blue, St Leonards, if you fancy a go. Friday (3rd Mar) brings a brace of bands at Heroes, Hastings: Brinkman, Noxious, Ripchord, My Dearest Enemy and, ooh, Regular John are on the flyers for it. But, as we're partly responsible for the booking, we recommend going up to the Electric Palace cinema, High Street, Hastings instead, for a rare showing of Chris Petit's excellent existential road-movie Radio On, to be introduced by Petit himself. It's a good weekend there, in fact, 'cos on the Sat and Sun (4th & 5th Mar) they've got Dig! (that Brian Jonestown Massacre/Dandy Warhols warts&all doc) showing, so if you've not been along there yet, it's gotta be time to try. See www.electricpalacecinema.com for more details. 28.02.06 It's Pancake Day, it's Pancake Day, it's PPPPPPPPPancake Day. The Brass Monkey, Hastings are gonna cash-in with a Mardi Gras night later today (Tue), with The Heaters, Mama Josie, and The Dwags playing (but probably no pancakes). Although, along at Revolver, Hastings, Deano's got his fortnightly session, though again, pancakes are probably not on offer. 19.02.06 Stop press: the Rashamon gig at Fortune Of War, Brighton tonight (Sun 19th) has been cancelled. The rest of the week should pan out as follows (nb: heavy Spirit Of Gravity-related bias: is no-one up to much in Hastings?) - Monday (20th Feb) brings a Litmus event at Enigma, Brighton, with Hot Roddy, Neuschul, Daddy and Clubfoot (a launch gig for Hot Roddy's Crust Mantle Core cdr on Litmus' label); Tuesday (21st Feb) is Spirit Of Gravity itself, at Marlborough Theatre, Brighton, with Hot Roddy again, Register, Faoi, and Permanent Bag System. The latter half of the week (Thu 23rd - Sat 25th) includes a Wrong Music tour of Ireland (the Leprechaun Error Tour - is this a good idea?), with Shitmat, Chevron, Ebola, The Gross Consumer and nwodtleM, visiting Cork, Dublin and Belfast. That Saturday (25th Feb) also includes an Ordio Enjinn gig at Offside Bar, Islington, with Hot Roddy (again - now he's moved to London we may see a lot more of these gigs), Michael Bunce and Summer Holiday (nb: Ordio Enjinn have recently released a compilation cd Devolution To The Frontline, featuring both Hot Roddy's Acapella and Rashamon's Every Home Becomes A Western, see www.ordioenjinn.com ). Normal service to be resumed next week. 17.02.06 Just a quick notice: The Heaters are at Harpers, Hastings tonight (Fri 17th), and at Stringbendys, Eastbourne tomorrow (Sat 18th); on which day The Flesh Happening are also playing the Ocean Rooms in Brighton. And a long-awaited update on the Passive-Aggressive site brings the news that Rashamon are at the Fortune Of War, Brighton on the Sun (19th Feb). That's all! 13.02.06 Alfie Bernardi's got a set down Smugglers, Hastings this evening (Mon); whilst The Heaters are way up in the Dublin Castle, Camden (Didn't check to see who they might be playing with though: could be worth a look anyway). Tomorrow (Tue 14th) is, of course, Valentine's Day: along at Revolver, Hastings Deano & Bonj will be supplying some live music, though Revolver have also booked in a pianist called Peter O'Donnell too, just in case the Rumiko songbook isn't romantic enough. Bonj says that further along George Street the same evening, Rufus, Paul Phillips, Billy and Matt Jukes will be playing suprising tunes at the Dragon Bar. We'd love to tell you what tunes, but you'll have more fun if you have no expectations, trust us. In an even-less loving-mood, it's also Wrong Music down at the Volks, Brighton: that could really make you sick. Kiss-kiss, kids! 06.02.06 Seen those flyers for Canned Jam at Smugglers, Hastings tonight? It's another of Jonathan Martin's groups, if you weren't sure. Uncertainty may be in the air this week. When Friday (10th Feb) comes, it's Regular John's birthday gig at Harpers, Hastings, where they'll be playing alongside Hayley Savage and Deano. Then on Saturday (11th Feb), still at Harpers, Rashamon and Same Actor appear for a Club Apotheosis night. Which co-incides nicely with the Dizzy Tiger release of Rashamon's The Power Of Hatred ep (DTMC15), featuring a remix by Hot Roddy (Same Actor's Chris, under his other name), so if you're planning on going along (and you should!) feel free to mail me and I'll bring a copy down for you (retailing at one pound, I reckon, or maybe a drink, eh?) Incidentally, a vague bit of Flying Marrows-related news: the boys Nat and Bill Lambie are taking part in a group photographic exhibition at St Mary In The Castle, Hastings throughout this month, so pop down (particularly on Thursdays, when they'll be stewarding) if you're free. I am! 01.02.06 Tomorrow (Thu 2nd) it's Other Words down at Bar Blue, St Leonards: we've billed it as an open-mic poetry/spoken word evening before, but in actuality it encompasses singer-songwriters, folk musicians, anyone who's passing and interested really. Maybe the key word is 'Open' then. And in the realm of the 'open', the London Musicians' Collective's radio art station Resonance FM is celebrating another 5-year extension of its licence, with the Resonance Lives event on Saturday (4th Feb) at the Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1 (from 7pm): performers include Hot Roddy, Jem Finer, Binray, Pocket, Superstrings, Alexander Wendt, Wiliam English, and, of course, 'special guests'. Listen online at www.resonancefm.com to pick up more details. For those of us down this end on Saturday, we recommend you might as well try and catch Clearlake this weekend after all (actually at Eastbourne's Underground Theatre, rather than down The Crypt, as reported below) to make up for last week's promotional cock-ups in Hastings. Or stay in, it's still cold! 30.01.06 Up in Tunbridge Wells this evening (Monday), The Crayons are on the bill at The Forum (www.twforum.co.uk), with Slightly Restrained and The Mockingbird Nightmare, if you're passing. Deano will hopefully have recovered from Tom Waits evening at Smugglers last Saturday (a load of alcoholics covering songs about alcohol written by a former alcoholic, in a pub frequented by alcoholics! What could go wrong?) in time for his stint at Revolver, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 31st); though he may be playing with Bonj, rather than Jim, this time, we think. See you there, hopefully. 27.01.06 Today seems to be the day most things are happening: In Brighton, The Flesh Happening are at the Engine Room, with The Mekano Set and Grizzly Giant. Here in Hastings you've got a choice of Alfie Bernardi doing a launch for his album at the Dragon Bar or Rufus Stone over at Harpers. There's conflicting info going about, but it looks like tonight's Clearlake/The Crayons gig at Brass Monkey, Hastings has been pulled. It may just be that Clearlake have cancelled, and the rest of the evening (also to feature our Reuben djing) will still be on: according to the Hastings Observer, Clearlake are supporting The Crimea on tour, and that tour happens to reach Hastings next weekend (Sat 4th Feb, in fact, with Cadence too - not Seb's old project, but the other Hastings band), so they're gonna hold-off and play that gig, instead of two gigs in town (this tallies with www.hastingslive.com too). Not sure that a group featuring ex-members of The Crocketts can be any good, but for Clearlake themselves, that Crypt gig still counts as recommended. Oh anyway, if you're actually in Finland (not likely to be reading this then!), Shitmat's playing at some event called Katharsis, in Helsinki. Something for everyone, then. 24.01.06 Rashamon play this month's Spirit Of Gravity event tonight (Tue), at the Marlborough Theatre, Brighton, with nwodtleM and Terror Wogan (previously billed as Atari Wogan..) - sounds fun! 16.01.06 Things are quietening down temporarily, but there's a couple of low-key gigs in Hastings tomorrow if you're up for them. At Revolver, Deano & Jim do their country thing, whilst just along in Harpers, it's indiepop acousticness from Sellophane Sun. Otherwise, be thankful for the chance of a few days rest and recuperation, 'cos there's plenty of work to do soon... 11.01.06 Tomorrow (Thu 12th) sees the first Listen event, down at The Rooms,Western Road, St Leonards (see www.therooms.org.uk ), a new acoustic evening featuring Zoe Konez (who organises), Tim Hoyte and Daniel Boyle. For those of a noisier disposition, The Heaters (hopefully less blues-based than Monday's gig - their site is www.the-heaters.moonfruit.com if you wanna look), Regular John and Blind Image (new to us..) are all at Smugglers, Hastings the next day (ooh, Friday 13th). For those of an even noisier disposition, try heading up to Electrowerkz, Islington, London that evening instead, for Bang Face XXVIII - A Rave Opera, and a killer line-up of both Shitmat and Slipmatt (that could confuse some of the old-skool massive), alongside many others including Depth Charge, Hellfish and Cylob, so that's gonna be great (see www.bangface.com for details). The next day (Sat 14th), back in Hastings, Regular John play again, this time at The Tubman with Noxious, which could be storming, bearing in mind the size of the pub. See you there, for definite. 09.01.06 It seems fair enough to start mentioning the occasional gig by The Heaters on this site: first up the're playing at the Hastings Arms (yes, in Hastings, in the Old Town) tonight (Mon 9th), though this is as part of that pub's regular Monday blues evenings (called, and you may be there before us, Blue Monday), so not sure how this will square with their skinny-jeaned urch-rock sound. Sure they'll have a plan though. At completely the other end of the scene, it's Wrong Music time at the Volks, Brighton tomorrow (10th Jan). Loads of new and interesting stuff later this week as well, but AOL's such a pain in the arse that it'll have to wait 'til we're by a more reasonable computer (ie where you can see more than half the bloody screen at once) before that gets updated. Huh. 04.01.06 A couple of quickies: tomorrow (Thu 5th) is the return of Other Words, the long-running open-mike poetry event, now down in the hazy surroundings of Bar Blue in St Leonards. Whether you have something to say or not, we hope you get a chance to pop by in support of those brave enough to expose their thoughts without even an instrument to shelter behind - it'll be grand, and all are welcome. Also, this Saturday (6th Jan) you might as well come along to Smugglers, Hastings and celebrate the birthdays of several movers-and-shakers of the scene: some quality musical turns are surely guaranteed. Get with it!

30.06.06 Tonight (Friday), the Rufus Stone band are at the re-opened Harpers Bar in Hastings; whilst up in London, there's another fundraising gig for Resonance FM, entitled Kick Up The Riddim, at The Rhythm Factory, Whitechapel: Hot Roddy, Mully and a handful of others appear in two rooms. Then Saturday (1st July) has Gorilla, supported by Regular John, at Brass Monkey, Hastings. If you're watching the World Cup Quarter Finals beforehand (or even Wimbledon, if you like a drink that much) try and pace yourselves, eh? Thanks! NB: Also as of tomorrow (1st July), we're gonna slightly alter the format of this page: changing from this current diary-style to more of a calender-style listing of upcoming gigs (with the odd bit of other news squeezed in where appropriate). With the increase in volume of gigs and events involving our friends in the two years since we put the Dizzy Tiger site online, it's been more and more difficult to get these entries correct in advance, as gigs are confirmed and cancelled almost day-by-day. Hopefully it'll be easier to maintain too! Anyone missing the over-friendly colloquialisms of this news page in the future should head over to the Message Boards, where there's loads of it. Also, wherever possible, we'll append to gigs that have gone by links to any reviews or photos that may appear on our blogs, or external sites whenever we spot anything relevant. Hopefully that'll all become clear over the next few weeks, thanks for your continued interest, X. 27.06.06 Well, The Heaters (in some form) played the Hastings Arms, here in Hastings, yesterday (Monday 26th); and up in London tonight (Tue) The Black Tulips, The OGB, Eleven, Co-Star and The Counterfeits are at The Purple Turtle in Camden; but aside from that it's a quiet start to the week. 23.06.06 Aside from the Shitmat/Planet Mu dates over the weekend (see below), there's also several Hastings gigs going on, for those unwilling to travel far. Tonight (Fri), sees a gig by a new band Alfie Bernardi's joined at Smugglers; tomorrow (Sat 24th) Richard Hart is performing with friends at Poorboys Cafe, whilst The A Team return to Brass Monkey, alongside Ch3vy; and finally Tim Hoyte's at a charity festival in Buckswood School, Guestling from midday Sunday (25th Jun) alongside a whole load of other acts (of which The Red Shift and Pass The Cat are, at least, worth catching). 19.06.06 This is a bit more like it: today (Monday) has The Black Tulips at the Engine Rooms, Brighton, with Ass Rockits and Pink Noise. Deano will be doing the Revolver stuff in Hastings tomorrow (Tue 20th); whilst back over in Brighton it's Spirit Of Gravity time at the Marlborough Theatre, with Lifting Engineer, Multiplex and Rashamon. As an incentive (we know there's an England match on), it might be your first chance to pick up the brand new Shitmat - Spirit Of Gravity Remixes cdr album too, so do the right thing. There's a few Shitmat/Planet Mu dates this week too: Wednesday (21st Jun) somewhere in Manchester (with Venetian Snares, DJ Scotch Egg and Chevron); Friday (23rd Jun) has a Planet Mu party at the Electrowerkz in London; and Saturday (24th Jun) more of that lot (including Venetian Snares and Luke Vibert) are at an event called Faster Than Sound, being held at Aldeburgh Airbase in Norfolk (neither Shitmat's nor Planet Mu's sites brought up much more detail on any of these dates, but there's enough info for you to do an internet search if it really takes your fancy). Uh-oh! 17.06.06 Well, it was another Wrong Music at the Volks Tavern, Brighton on Thursday (15th Jun); and today (Saturday) brings both Rufus Stone and Regular John at Brass Monkey, Hastings (that's about all we knew about this week, so sorry if you missed Wednesday's Smugglers gig: we did too!). Nice weather though. 06.06.06 What with throwing a party last Saturday night, there was so much on our plates (um, figuratively) that we fell behind updating this website, for the first time, and forgot to give you more details on the Technically Men gig that night at The Crypt (sorry, Del). But, having sobered up a bit by now, at least we can get this week's info up: which started yesterday night (Mon), with Tim Hoyte playing down Smugglers, Hastings. Today (Tue) it's time for Deano et al, round the corner at Revolver, Hastings: not sure who else might be playing, possibly Satan, I guess... Anyhow, Wednesday (7th Jun) features an acoustic gig by The Crayons, on the bill at The Street, Hastings. By Thursday (8th Jun), The Flesh Happening will be up in London for a gig at The Good Ship, Kilburn, alongside The Mighty Roars, Big Sur and Kaned Citizen, whoever they might all be. Friday (9th Jun) offers a choice of Tim Hoyte, again, at The Rooms, St Leonards, with Darren Eve; The New Shapes, The Black Tulips and One Boy Girl at Brass Monkey, Hastings; and apparently The Heaters (in some form) at the Ypres Inn, Rye. and, blimey, Tim Hoyte's at it again on the Sunday (11th Jun) down at Bar Blah, St Leonards, with that guy Darren Eve again. Busy lads. So should you be. Get us a drink! 29.05.06 There's at least one worthwhile gig happening this Bank Holiday Monday (29th May), with The Crayons, Fracture and Off Limit playing another battle-of-the-bands competition (do you think they're keeping their own seasonal league-tables by now?) at The Forum, Tunbridge Wells. Wednesday (31st May) brings Alfe Bernardi over to The Street in Hastings; whilst The Open House in Brighton is presenting 'On The Edge', an improvised team-up between the Spirit Of Gravity and Safe House crews (see www.spiritofgravity.com for details). Thursday (1st Jun) is time for Other Words open-mic at Bar Blue, St Leonards; and another gig for The Crayons (featuring a support turn by One Boy Girl - Mark Crayons' solo project) at Flava in Eastbourne. That's plenty! 27.05.06 The Black Horse Music Festival is running all over this Bank Holiday Weekend, up at the Black Horse Inn, Telham, near Battle (www.blackhorsemusicfestival.org.uk); we only really have an interest in Tim Hoyte's appearance tonight (Sat), supporting Glenn Tilbrook (with his new band The Fluffers) and Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies - fifteen pounds on the door, if you're up for that. It's looking like an unusually quiet Bank Holiday otherwise... 23.05.06 Just a quick reminder that Deano's playing down Revolver, Hastings tonight. Expect probable ATP anecdotes from him, and his various chalet-mates (eg Rufus, Bonj & Matt) if they're playing too, and possibly an appearance from the mighty Hayley Savage, though we can never confirm any of this 'til the night itself... 18.05.06 Starting today (Thu) there's another Wrong Music tour getting underway (ahem, the Monsters Of Cock tour), with Ladyscraper, DJ Floorcleaner and Mully trashing several venues around the UK up until next Friday (26th May): see www.wrongmusic.co.uk for the details. We're off to ATP, again, for the weekend, but if it helps you could always travel up to the Brixton Jamm club in, well, Brixton, for The Black Tulips (whose new cd we've received in the post, thanks, along with an Electric Morning Star ep: these plus other recent demos from Regular John, Same Actor, etc should mean that the long-delayed Dizzy Tiger compilation may see the light of day by, ooh, summer?), playing alongside Hot Club De Paris, Drinkme, My First Radio and Sob Dollies. 15.05.06 Tomorrow (Tue 16th) it's Regular Bonj's birthday, so y'all get down to Smugglers, Hastings to celebrate (Regular John, Rumiko Jr, probably others, will be playing). Du pain, du vin, du Bonj! 12.05.06 Later today (Fri), loads of us are off to All Tomorrow's Parties, which'll be a total blast, but for those of you left behind (and in possession of a passport - your own, of course), it looks like Shitmat's playing with a bunch of people at an event called Crack Beats over the water in Tilburg in Holland tonight. Tomorrow(Sat 13th)'s a bit more likely, with Tim Hoyte and Beamer at Eat@, Claremont, Hastings; and Glass Eye 14 (singer-songwriter fest) round the corner at Smugglers - we know Alfie's there, at least. Sure there'll be something else happening wherever you live sometime over the rest of the weekend anyway. By the way, the vaguely-Dizzy Tiger page on MySpace has now been taken down, 'cos it was so boring on there: if you wanna chat, use our Message Boards, they're much better. You don't have to be a Myspacer to access most bands' pages, by the way, so check out the new Rumiko Jr album demos at http://www.myspace.com./rumikojr (promo cdrs available at ATP too, via the band, along with whatever else the rest of us dig-up). Ta. 08.05.06 Deano's playing Revolver, Hastings tomorrow (Tue 9th): let's see if being this month's Ultimate Alternative cover-star has gone to his head. Later, on Thursday (11th May), Jonathan Martin plays Listen at The Rooms, St Leonards, with Austin Drage. 04.05.06 Right, cast your vote, then consider the following options. Tonight (Thu) it's Other Words open-mic at Bar Blue, St Leonards; whilst The Black Tulips play Club East in Worthing, and Shitmat appears to be further along the coast at a place called Alcatraz, down in Bournemouth. Tomorrow (Fri 5th) brings another Shitmat appearance at a Fractals launch party at Impact Studios in Reading (for more details on both these gigs, try http://www.shitmat.co.uk). Then it's back home on Saturday (6th May) for Rumiko Jr at Brass Monkey, Hastings: bring your party poppers. Mmm, Spring. 01.05.06 Today (Bank Holiday Monday itself) finally brings us all the mayhem of Jack-In-The-Green all over Hastings, and if that wasn't enough sex, drugs & rock 'n' roll action for you, Regular John, Gorilla and Trenchfoot UK are at Smugglers too, from sometime this afternoon. LATE NEWS! There's also an Anti-BNP gig organised for between 3pm & 11pm today, at Heroes, Hastings - all been a bit word-of-mouth, but the details we've found have been posted-up on the Message Board: many fine bands (including some of our friends) are gonna be there, so make an appearance before we all get too fucked-up! 25.04.06 Ok, Deano's doing the thing at Revolver, Hastings tonight (Tue), and if you don't go you're not in the know, so there. If you're feeling Midlands, there's a big Wrong Music night at the Custard Factory, Birmingham tomorrow (Wed 26th) with a selection of hard & soft centres. Most of the gigs down here are falling over the Mayday Bank Holiday Weekend, though, which is handy. On the Friday (28th Apr), The Flesh Happening are at the Engine Room, Brighton already, while here in Hastings, Regular John are supporting Kubicheck! and The Motorettes at the Brass Monkey. Saturday (29th Apr) brings Neil Young Day at Smugglers, Hastings, wherein all sorts of the great and the good do their favourites to help Alfie celebrate his birthday (see www.myspace.com/alfiebernardi ). Sunday (30th May) brings a Dirty Old Town promotion at Bar Luxor on Hastings Pier, with Elite and Midget Bardot playing live, plus djs. 18.04.06 Another fine weekend...then it's back to work, and tonight (Tue) it's Spirit Of Gravity at the Marlborough Theatre, Brighton, with Kay Grant, Minimal Impact and I'm Dr Bouyant playing; meanwhile, The Black Tulips and The Dead Kids are over at the Albert, Brighton, too. Wednesday (19th Apr) brings a benefit gig for the St Patrick's Trust homeless shelter: The Flesh Happening, La Frange, Pretty Tied Up, The Mighty Shanks, The Mekano Set and The Feelgood Floozies Can-Can Extraordinaire (the latter being an actual can-can dancing troupe, we hear) all appear at the Komedia, Brighton. Nb: got another Flesh Happening demo in the post this weekend, and it's the best stuff they've done so far, and what with Oliva promising a better set than their previous Brighton gig (which was so good that they've become our Reuben and Liam's favourite new band) this has gotta be worth your money. More Flesh Happening press can be found free in the current issues of The Source (Brighton) and The Organ (nationwide). And there's also Hot Roddy at the Betsey Trotwood up in Clerkenwell, on Thursday (20th Apr), to boot. Easy now. 12.04.06 The God Of Bank Holidays is smiling on us at last, so here's the plan. Good Friday (14th Apr): at some point in the day Alfie Bernardi (and quite probably a few more of our nearest and dearest) are getting some tunes in at The Street, Hastings; following which, get yourself round the corner to the Brass Monkey for the Reid Paley Trio (U.S.), Bone-Box (Manchester) and Rumiko Jr (the pub), and some proper country-rockin' action. Easter Saturday (15th Apr - is there such a thing as Easter Saturday, or are we just excited?) and you might as well stay in the Monkey, 'cos Ch3vy are presenting one of their Waxed nights, with live music from The A-Team (see 13.02.06 entry for the Dragon bar, below) who've now revealed themselves as television-nostalgia fetishists of the highest order. Make friends, influence people, egg! 10.04.06 Tomorrow (Tue) it's time for Deano and pals to do the strumming at Revolver, Hastings; whilst over in Brighton it's (the possible last for a while) Wrong Music at the Volks Tavern. It's Spring! It's snowing! We like! 05.04.06 Later this evening (Wednesday), Flying Marrows are on the bill at The Street, Hastings; while Alfie Bernardi performs with Simon Shaw and Josie Hope at The Standard, Rye. Thursday (6th Apr) brings Other Words open mic poetry & music at Bar Blue, St Leonards. Friday (7th Apr) sees the third Overkill event at the Elektrowerkz in Islington: for the devastating line-up see www.wrongmusic.com . Saturday (8th Apr) has a killer-duo of Gorilla and Regular John at Smugglers, Hastings; whilst Jonathan Martin has a full-band gig up on the West Hill at the Angel, Hastings. Finally, Alfie's also back at Smugglers, on Sunday (9th Apr). Phew. 03.04.03 Tonight (Monday) The Crayons have a gig at Harpers, Hastings, though there's been some to-ing and fro-ing there over the last week, and we can't even advise ringing before you go down 'cos last time anyone tried, the 'phone number was unavailable. Try your luck then, really.

JANUARY 2007: After a fine start to the year courtesy of Rumiko Jr, Regular John and Southernwood down Smugglers, Hastings on New Year's Day, the first bit of news we've got is that 'Anti', the new Dizzy Tiger compilation (DTMC16), is finally mixed.
