"Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?"
Are you sure this is a good idea?! How does it actually work? Is it just an equivalent to the Status aspect of Facebook/MySpace, or has it spread to offline updates too now?

Am not really sure what you're worried about here, Mr Stu... Assuming that I'm bright enough not to broadcast my holiday plans, exact whereabouts, or state of intoxication, I don't really see where the harm is, other than who gives a crap, which would be a valid point! As I understand it, it's designed to serve the same purpose as Facebook status updates, although you can also set it up from your phone, I think, and can reply to/message other people. Anyway, I just thought it was a nifty thing, although if I don't end up having the time or inclination to update it all that often, it'll kind of defeat the point, so I'll probably take it down...we'll see. Does that about cover it? Am prepared for there to have been some aspect of this that I've completely overlooked*... (*Big Brother-esque privacy concerns aside though. I would/have never said anything online that I wouldn't be happy to repeat in front of friends/family/legal type folks, so I'm not really worried about my online activities being monitored, except in the abstract sense, from a civil liberties point of view...)

Am not really sure what you're worried about here, Mr Stu... I was only expressing concern in a spending-more-time-on-social-networking-sites style.

Right - got a Twitter account now (Zzzz), I like that you can subscribe to an RSS feed of people's updates, it's completely pointless! Be the first to know when I'm eating toast! Watching tv! Bored! It does seem to be taking off this year though - I've noticed a lot of bands promoting themselves with Twitter pages in the last few weeks.

I started an account a couple of weeks ago but I haven't updated it since. I have enough time on my hands for Facebook but I suspect Twitter is for people who've long since lost all touch on reality....
When I get around to it I might post an update to say I'm in the bath, then leave it a few weeks and wait to see if the authorities break down my front door to rescue me - having been alerted by a distressed and aroused Stephen Fry.

Co-incidentally, I have just posted on Twitter to say I'm getting into the bath. There is a reason, but you'll have to go there to find out why. So long as you can handle the excitement. More usefully, Jeffrey Disastronaut is using Twitter to find a studio assistant back home, which could be good experience for someone?

For those of you who don't Tweet, this just in (well, an hour ago) from @eddieizzard: "Just eating some very good Thai food. Tomorrow I will be opening the Bexhill museum, just by Egerton Park, at 3pm. See you there " (Did people know this?)
