This would be particularly useful for me, as I've got no income at the moment, so how about flagging-up anything interesting available as (preferably free) download? You could mention your own downloads (whether for purchase or for free) here too. For example, there's a free 6-track EP sampler from Izumi Records (presumably the same one offered in last month's East) called Izumi Motel, free from the Izumi Store section of their site www.izumirecords.com - As is quite common, you just have to register on their mailing list to get it. Bands featured: Swimming, Sad Paw, Burning Codes, The Late Greats, Foreign Slippers and Let's Go Sailing. I know the Rumiko thing with Izumi fell flat on a downloading issue, but that just seems to be the way they operate, by and large - check their download-only sister-label Imoto via the site too. A few notes on which acts have enabled their MySpace tracks for official free download may be handy too - I'll try and get onto that shortly.

Another: OK-ish music monthly Clash Magazine www.clashmusic.com currently has a free download compilation album from OK-ish label Moshi Moshi - visit their website and click on Features (there's a box-ad for the download, or scroll through the Features 'til you get to the accompanying article, dated 02/10/08). 13 tracks from: Sukpatch, Kathryn Williams vs Pedro, Matt Harding, Hot Chip, Au Revoir Simone, Lo-Fi-Fnk, Tilly And The Wall, Hot Club De Paris, Slow Club, Dels, The Mae Shi, The Wave Pictures and James Yuill. At this point, we should probably, in fairness, say something like "Make sure you buy Clash Magazine this month for the full Moshi Moshi feature", but they have put Oasis on the cover again, so...

Adam's posted the cover of the next issue of East up on their Facebook group: turns out James Yuill is (originally) from Eastbourne, which I might have known sooner had I actually read his interview in the NME a couple of months ago... www.jamesyuill.com

Also, while I remember, it could be worth flagging other singles, albums etc that come with bonus tracks with the download versions. For instance, with bands that have some vague local association: I mentioned before that Lowgold's latest Promise Lands has an additional 3 songs (Feathered Word, Silk And Steel and Climb The Sea) if you get it from iTunes; and The Late Greats have done the same sort of thing with one extra track (Sleep Sleep Sleep) on the iTunes version of their new album too; furthermore, Keane had an extra track (My Shadow) only with pre-orders for their album off iTunes - The deal with Apple/iTunes seems to be that all these tracks are exclusive to their site, which seems a bit limiting, particularly when the bands & their labels are selling the download albums directly to their fans too, without bonus content. Hmm.

Free Loop Festival download from the NME here. EDIT: I should probably add that it features The Juan McLean, The Invisible, Fujiya & Miyagi, Fever Ray, Squarepusher, Datarock, Matthew Herbert Big Band, Mirrors, Telepathe, Tunng, Esser, Plugs and The Field, and that some of the tracks are very good indeed.

Boyracer's (possibly career-best) 1994 Peel Session, available to download from the band's own site (in taped-off-the-radio quality) here - features their version of Even As We Speak's One Step Forward, a re-titled version of He Gets Me So Hard, and a nod to The Fall, amongst other highlights. Really, very good indeed.

Maps Magazine with Hallowe'en album download, with Piney Gir, MJ Hibbett, Fonda 500 and more, including Stuart Newman of vaguely this parish. Manchester's LAB Records has a download sampler currently, one-boy emo lad Eat.Sleep.Attack (of vaguely this parish) are on it. And I can't be bothered to re-post them, but East's Dave Standen has linked to more free albums on his Twitter - MF Doom, Euros Childs etc.

Sub Pop samplers, old & new. The webpage has been cunningly designed to look like a spam site circa 2002, but it is legit.
