My friend Richard is setting up a professionally run label called Overhead Wires: I won't give any details as he's still in the early stages of organisation, but he may contact some acts who have appeared on Dizzy Tiger releases in the past. If he says he knows me, it's 'cos he does! I'll vouch for his trustworthiness too.

Could this mean the long awaited re-release of all the Duplo music on a CD or even mp3 download?

Ha! Not for the forseeable future...
Rich is assembling a roster of extant bands for Overhead Wires, so long-gone bedroom bands are unlikely to figure in his plans (although he does like a lot of the same music Duplo did: New Order, OMD, etc).
A Duplo cd/mp3 re-issue programme would need the unlikely confluence of: i) public interest, ii) the resources to convert all the old tapes to a mastered digital format, iii) a fair bit of money, and iv) us all agreeing to the project.
We need a celebrity fan, I reckon!

Richard's sent out the January CD (In The Twilight We Can't Hide, Volume 1) from Overhead Wires now - he seems to be aiming for a CD per month. 8 tracks - a mixed bag, as you can find out on MySpace, but some of it would fit on a DizzyTiger comp too, so I'm good with it. There's a simple colour A5 zine (Pantograph) to go with it too, which it would be nice to see expand over the coming months.
It's a free release, so email overheadwires@live.com or the MySpace & Facebook pages if you want a copy. I'm sure offers of tracks, zine contributions or general assistance wouldn't go amiss either.

Rich has printed a Q&A with me in the current issue of his Pantograph newsletter, so email him if you want a look overheadwires@live.com. Duplo do get a mention!

We went to a couple of Overhead Wires launch events last week: a label showcase ('Livewire 1')at The Providence (round the corner), and a singer-songwriter evening ('This Is My Epicentre') at The Three Graces (further into Hove, along Portland Road, near where we used to live).
Richard's hoping to put on the '...Epicentre' events in other towns, and is up for booking acts from outside of Brighton to play over here too - Deano, Alfie, this could be worth a trip. Email him overheadwires@live.com if you fancy it.

Dean's solo stuff is not really acoustic anymore, Danielle's synths are to the fore - Sandrabbit is more of a band than a one man and a guitar proposition.
If your man can sort us out with some Rumiko shows in Brighton that would be awesome like the Welles. In fact if you know anyone who promotes a night over that way can you hook us up, we haven't been to Brighton in ages.

It's not actually an acoustic night - It just focuses on singer-songwriters more than bands, I think. Of the 4 acts who played at The Three Graces, only 1 was a solo acoustic act; there were also 2 electric duos, and 1 full electric band. It would be ideal for Sandrabbit, certainly. Email Rich anyway: he's got both Rumiko CDs (I gave Rufus the money for them at Hayley's album launch), and listens to and likes them. It really shouldn't be hard to get Rumiko a gig round here (The Providence, maybe The Greenhouse Effect, spring to mind) - I'll have a chat with Rich next time I see him and try and sort it, even if I have to give him a hand with the arrangements.

Rich texted this afternoon actually - The Three Graces are considering bringing him in permanently as their live music promoter/engineer on the back of Saturday's gig, so hopefully there'll be more details on that to come.
