Apart from the heavily-flagged 'hidden' plot-arcs (not a word from you, Lee of the Plot-Spoilers!) I enjoyed it, although the plot was fairly insubstantial. The trailer for next week looked promising too.

Can someone record Dr Who (I'll be sound-checking)? Cheers x

I am endeavouring to tape the current run of Doctor Who, if anyone does miss any. I thought that Shakespeare one was excellent, but I appear to be in a minority on this. Maybe it was just the sexy witch?

I feel like I missed the point on that one. I thought it was dull / stupid / poorly acted / crap..... Ta for lending me the tape tho Stu

The BBC site reports that if tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final goes well into extra time, Doctor Who will be postponed by a whole week, bah! Here's hoping for a thorough thrashing for, um, whichever team might be playing.

|
Post by caroline on Apr 13, 2007 20:08:03 GMT 1
And you know why it might be postponed, don't you? Because the piece of toss that's on after it ("Search for a how do you solve a problem like Joseph in Greased Lightning on Ice" or something like that... ) goes out live, and therefore can't be postponed. I may get stabby if deprived of my Doctor Who. Just a warning...

Carrie- is Barney still collecting the Doctor Who stickers?
If so, he can have ours- the Radio Times is giving away another three sets over the coming weeks...

I don't want them, ta, just saying they weren't there (possibly still lying on a shelf in Hastings Station's coffee shop)!
Oh, I know I said in relation to the first episode of this season that I thought the 'hidden' plot-arcs were really obvious... Well, having not noticed anything else in the last two episodes, I'll withdraw that statement!

Ok, my plan to tape the new series of Doctor Who went awry, after another Dr Who tape got ensnared in the VCR. I didn't manage to free it until Sunday afternoon, knackering the machine in the process! Oh well, it was dying anyway...
Incidentally, the tangled tape in question (which is now untangled, and relatively undamaged) was The Hartnell Years, one of several more 2nd-hand videos I turned up over the weekend in both Hastings and Bexhill, all seemingly as a result of people upgrading to dvd copies (the rest were Cybermen - The Early Years, City Of Death, The Keeper Of Traken, Logopolis, The Five Doctors, The Caves Of Androzani, and some independently-made documentary). Fortunately, we've still got Soph's old VCR to use! I bought the new release of the story Survival on dvd too, by the way...

Did anyone else experience reception blackouts this evening? BBC1 (and no other channels) was disappearing for 6 minutes at a time, every half an hour, so I missed a section in the middle of tonight's Doctor Who (between Solomon's extermination, and the Doctor talking to Sec in the Empire State), and then the entire end of the show, from the point at which Lazlo said there was one Dalek. Grrr...

I loved it! great human-dalek moving like old school robo-men thing going on. MJ could give the unrequited love thing a rest for an episode however.

Still not seen the whole thing (including the ending), but from what I saw I did like the bored pig-men in the lift, and the Doctor's subsequent 'Are You Being Served?' reference.

To anyone I may have misinformed: Dr Who is on tonight, it's next week's episode that's being bumped to make way for the Euro-sodding-vision Song Contest. So it's not my fault if you miss it! (Unrelated- despite the fact that I no longer feel hungover, I'm finding typing this exceptionally challenging, and have had to correct about 15 typos in this short entry. Think I'm going to get off the 'puter and have myself some restorative David Tennant- he's good for what ails you!)

David Tennant's also on 'Parkinson' tonight, ITV 10.40pm.
Think Doctor Who still hasn't dropped the ball this season: another really fun episode. They said it was gonna be scary, but never mind the somewhat unconvincing CGI monster, what about naked Mark Gatiss? And he snogged Thelma Barlow! I really enjoyed the climax: someone's been watching 'The Quatermass Experiment'! (Probably Mark Gatiss again...) Also: "Harold Saxon". 'Harold'? 'Saxon'? And yes, I'm sure you all realised that the trailer at the end of the episode was for the entire latter half of the series, and all that action isn't just taking place in one week...

In the words of Blackadder, I think the phrase rhymes with clucking bell..!
I noticed about 30 minutes in that I was actually on the edge of my seat! (Looks-wise, v. reminiscent of the Satan Pit though...)
That were proper Dr Who, that were. None of your BBC cod-american accents and dalek-humans with weirdly phallic-looking facial appendages. Me likey.
I'll say no more, anyway, as the boy won't be seeing it until Tuesday or Wednesday...

Same writer as The Satan Pit, in fact. I will hold fire on commenting on it 'til later in the week though, so as not to spoil it for Michael.
