Kim would like to get information about his music on his website, partly because people who know him for his visual art are apparently sceptical that he makes music at all. Regardless of whether you think his songs are inspired or just bizarre, you can't deny he plays a mean bass. He's dying for the next compilation to come out so he's got something to show people.

- Michael has a new Frontier Telegraph (or whatever) track ready. It's a bit drone, he says. - Probably get another Regular John track for it. - Nick, finally got round to downloading the next few of your Morning Star tracks, and am enjoying them very much. Going well, I reckon. Nominate one?
This comp is looking more likely to be in the New Year, due to volume of stuff I've got to do. Keep it coming.

Hi Stu - the track for the new comp is done (just needs the first 5 mins edited out as it developed out of something else I was trying to do). Hope to see everyone at the regular john gig later

you pick one - you are the compiler. Theres bound to be more options soon. Am attempting to turn the lounge into a recording studio, thank the lord the neighbors go out all the time, the cats hardly meow and the building is sound!

Well I'm gonna pick Make Me Nervous then, Nick. It reminds me a little bit of Brighter - the group, not the Railway Children song, not that I think you've heard either of them! But everyone should, and I think that applies to your track too, so that's the one. Ta!
(Come to think of it, I meant The Sugargliders, but I like the phrasing I just managed, so I'm leaving it in!)

Tim Hoyte's donating new tracks for the comp. According to Reuben, Richard has been recording his recently. Another label's putting out the Technically Men single, but Del's organised a remix for the comp for us.

Its a bit electro. No harm done, though.
Ready soon..... ;D

Just finished another Frontier Telegraph track (another drone thing made up on the spot). At this rate I may have enough material for a four track tape in five years time. Will give you them on CDR as soon as I can get them into that format. See you all soon. x

Actually, I'm gonna have to start pulling all these tracks together soon, I reckon. Maybe people can get them to me over the Christmas holidays? There's also gonna be a shorter comp cdr on the label to go with the first issue of Regular John's zine in the New Year, so plenty of opportunities to get some music out there at the moment.

we're doin a zine? thanks for letting me know stu, no one else did! still, i'm sure it'll be the ultimate in alternative, not dissimilar to the ultmate alternative, actually probably not similar at all, we'll just use their name as our ideal. anyway, thanks for lettin us know about dinosaur jr at atp, its just before my birthday, so we gotta go! actually i think the mudhoney weekend is before my birthday, but i dont wanna have to decide between mudhoney and dinosaur jr, its too hard! maybe i'll go for mudhoney and bury myself in the ground til the next weekend and dig my way out for mascis and co. Laters x

Just gonna bump this thread up now it's February, and I really ought to be getting this compilation sorted out. (Dunno of Matt's progress with whether or not to do that other comp for the Regular John zine, and forgot to ask him last night down Revolver, find out soon!). Have posted a general invite for tracks out on Myspace today too, so hopefully we'll have plenty of stuff to choose from during the month. Wanna get the Rashamon single out first, in time for the Harpers gig, but then should be free to work on this comp. Figure that if I can sort the comp during Feb, it'll be out in March, in time to co-incide with some of the singles (eg Mumm-ra's) that are due to be released around then: I think it just looks musically healthy if several records arrive in the public's conciousness from the same area at around the same time. Fuck it, everyone should release a record in March this year, and deluge the newspapers and music-press etc with copies: make them think..
Anyhow, really, get your tracks in!

Now that I'm back in the world of functioning technical equipment I will make sure I have a track ready for you by the end of next week. Keep up the good work - I suggest you try and apply for some kind of funding, though.

Cheers, I wasn't gonna put up anything much in the way of tracklistings-in-progress 'til I actually receive individual contributions, so we'll see what you're called when you're done. But thanks!
Passed Matt & Lee from the John in town just now: looks like there'll be the seperate, Regular John-curated comp with the 2nd issue of their 'zine, rather than the first, so plenty of time for them to get that done (probably focussing more on actual Hastings guitar bands I expect).

Tracks from the Black Tulips & PinPrick discs you have could be discussed if you like them; alternatively more of both are available, shout when you're done with that lot if you want more.
Hello!

Cheers Fluxley, I'm up for including stuff from either/both those cds, so will sort that out with you sometime in the next few weeks. Are you coming along to the Rashamon/Same Actor Harpers gig?

Indeed there is: Erika Smith was flyering it at Other Words last night: My Funny Valentine, a dj night for queers&friends, playlist including Peaches, The Go! Team, LCD Soundsystem, The Fall (this is just off the top of my head, as I left the flyer at home this morning). Sounds like my kind of night, but I'll be down Harpers, of course. Maybe next time!

Demos with tracks for the comp are now arriving thick & fast (or, at least, faster than they had been for a while) - will start posting up a tracklisting-in-progress soon. Tentative deadline for end of this month please!

Uh, ok, having put-off thinking about the comp for a few weeks, I've had a look at the pile of cdrs, and have physically got tracks from the following people that I think I can use, if they're still willing:
1- Hot Roddy/Same Actor 2- The Flesh Happening 3- Rashamon 4- The Black Tulips/Pinprick artists 5- The Briganties 6- Doctor Fonda 7- Tigersnack 8- Kim Wan
Plus other mp3s from some of the above, and also:
9- Verlaine/The Morning Star 10- Beamer/Sellophane Sun/or whichever I've been sent.
Obviously ten tracks is enough to make a comp, at a push, but I should be able to get more off some of you lot, and others (Rumiko, R John & Tim Hoyte are at least recorded, to some degree?)
Gonna be a little while longer then!

Oh, I missed these two probables that are in the pile:
11- Alfie Bernardi 12- Bonj's electronics
I'm gonna put it together as before, ie work out a cassette version first (it seems to be more useful for getting the structure/flow of the tracks right) but then get a cdr version done straight after.
