Aside from you and me, Carrie still wants to go. The 4-berths are sold out, so we need to find at least a couple of other people.
Dear general public: we are all dead fit, sexy and smart, and can drink more than you. Please come on holiday with us.

Yes, the four berth is currently sold out, but they always have a few late returns nearer the time. If we can gather four people who can come up with the money at short notice then we can keep an eye out on the ATP website (www.atpfestival.com - for those who are tempted).
Saying that, the more the merrier...

Reuben (you've not met him, but you'll like him) is a possibility, I'll talk to him about it again soon.
On a related note, that Belle And Sebastian biography is out tomorrow. I'm planning on standing in the first bookshop I find it in and reading any bits about Bowlie before I decide whether to buy it sooner or later.
Best weekend ever.

Hey buddy some of us like our rock independent, boring and past its sell by date.
ATP site won't load so I figure their servers fallen over with the traffic to buy tickets so I guess its unlikely anyone will be able to get tickets.

I just had a look myself - seems to be working OK at the mo. Stu - As you can guess I'm up for it! Lee - when ATP have put on a more alternative line - up, it did not exactly go that well did it? The Autechre weekend was great fun - but not because of the music - that was dull as dishwater (except for El-P and Public Enemy obviously)! No offense meant. x x

I actually think the Autechre year was the last great ATP, and that Foundation have played it VERY safe since then. That's not to say that we don't always have a fabulous time (though last year's Chapman Brothers Nightmare Before Christmas was threadbare, to say the least), but that it's just become a lot more US/guitar oriented since then. I'd have much preferred to see Sleater-Kinney booking a whole weekend, 'cos ATP's gender-balance is way too skewed towards men, but then again... it's fuckin' Mudhoney! Who. Have. Never. Lost. It. Count me in.

Agree with Stu totally. I'm a little bit kranky this morning due to drinking loads last night, not having much sleep and realising I sent a snotty email to someone when I got home pissed! I know we all have our personal opinions on line ups and the such like but I really think ATP is becoming very formulaic.
My initial reaction to the line up was that next years Reading had been announced early. I love seeing a good guitar act and would probably still go if I wasn't going to be away but the reason I like to go to ATP is the diversity of musical genres. The first one I went to (with Prefuse 73 and Tortoise etc) introduced me to a lot of cool stuff that I don't think I would have got into otherwise.
The Autechre one is split between people thinking it was the worst and people thinking it was the best. I thought it could have done with some better live acts but at least it was fun. And thats what I thought ATP was about - heres some new bands, some you're gonna love and some you're gonna hate. But they are new and they are different and they are EXCITING!!
So lets have an old band, lets have some rock bands, some pop bands, some hip hop and some electronic/dance acts. And some crazy japanese guy playing a washing machine! Then at least its worth going to.
Otherwise you might as well go to Reading.

I know what you're saying Stu, but I found Autechre's weekend to be quite dull generally - music wise - just not my thing I guess. My personal best has been Tortoise - I thought that had the greatest mix.
But hey, what do I know. I refused to listen to anything other than The Doors until around 1998.

Tortoise one was my favourite, then Autechre, then the one after that, then Vincent Gallo....
Hmmm..seems to be a pattern.
I shouldn't worry - first band I got into was Bucks Fizz.
;D

Why for crying out bleeding buggering loud can't my browser open the ATP site. It. Never. Fucking. Works. (to paraphrase Stu) Keeps telling me it can't find the server.
Exactly which boring, past it indie bands are playing?

Yeah Yeah Yeahs...now theres a band I love. I'm actually thinking of starting up a punk/blues duo with a sultry but brash bleach blonde singer called the 'Why Did I Bothers'...Just got to bleach my hair and I'm away. Anyway - I'm drinking red wine, feeling feisty and off to see 2 many DJs at the Event 2. Also thinking of new DJ combo group. 'Can't DJ, Won't DJ'. Catchy, huh? Sammy Davis Junior!!!!!

I'll just point out, for those that may have missed it, that then new ATP compilation album (for the Matt Groeningn 2003 US event) features Sonic Youth covering The Simpsons theme: dunno when it's out though.

So, I'm going to The Nightmare Before Christmas after all, courtesy of Petra, Rita and David. This may be a bit of a pisser for everyone else, sorry! But at least it'll do the usual thing of spurring me into action to make sure there's plenty of flyers, tapes and cds to bring along. As always, I'm willing to bring other people's stuff along to offer for sale, and if so it'll be flagged-up on any flyers I make too. First weekend in December, if you want a deadline. See you soon!

I know, sorry! Someone who would have been going with them dropped out, so (once again) Petra texted me. Funnily enough, you and I have often gone with a spare place leftover too: I suppose that 'cos we always offer it round, the favour gets reciprocated. At last year's Nightmare Before Christmas, Paula came along for a day or too, which was brilliant, but I remeber fielding texts and voicemail messages all evening trying to sort out who was coming over. Anyway, Rita's recieved my money, so I guess I'm sorted. I think it'll be lovely. Though I will be at work one day over the weekend (probably Saturday) if people want to drop by and see how it's going. See you soon, x

[this may also be an oppportunity for a bit of science research, anyone care to assess the possibilties of actually creating my memory for me? i probably wouldnt notice i seem to be becoming distinctly adled just recently*]

The sitting-on-rugs at The Crypt gig was, of course, Cornershop. Devandra Banhart is the (tbc) curator at the first ATP weekend, next May. I'm desperately short of money at the moment, so if anyone's gonna sort out ATP they're gonna have to volunteer themselves and front the cost!

Hi
I am of course (as always) interested in coming along - although think will have to wait for Jan to buy tickets. Stu - I though that DB was just playing - do you have inside info? Unless he is the Special Guest (TBC)?
Anyone up for weekend two?
Stu - have a lovely time at the weekend - hope it is not as cold as last year! Wrap up warm all of you.

I read (in the NME I think) that he was the other curator, but I've not double-checked this on the ATP website. Paula has offered to do the booking for (one of) the weekends, so if people wanna confirm themseles here and indicate a timescale that they might be able to get the ticket money together, I'm sure that will help.
